Parramatta Eels salary cap: Club waiting on outcome of Anthony Watmough contract issue

If Watmough is a part of the 2016 squad there is no way they should get any dispensation for his injury this year, career ending or not.

Say Manly has a player in their 2016 squad, Is injured in pre season, spends the year out with injury and moves to a rival club for 2017. There's no salary cap help and nor should there be.

Scrap Watmough's salary in their cap next year. Fair enough. Bad luck for this year.

Grant Mayer, the former Wests Tigers and Manly chief executive and current boss of newly crowned A-League champions Adelaide United, said he would be “staggered” if the Eels could get cap compliant in nine days.

“It’s almost impossible,” Mayer said.

“You have got to have the desire of the club and the players would have to want to move and that’s the challenge.

“Players who have got contracts expect that they won’t be any worse off if they relocate,” Mayer said.

“That’s the issue, there’s six months of the season gone and they’d want at least 50 per cent of any figure, plus they might have two or three years left.

“Plus the relationships that will be lost.

“The player should be no worse off. It’s a complex negotiation and I’d be personally staggered if they can get it sorted before (taking on the Rabbitohs).”

Aren't we in the same situation with Jayden Hodges at the moment. No one is helping us with him.

Yeah, wants the earn. But in Semi's case I don't blame him. He has a limited number of years to set his family in Fiji up for generations.

Don't suppose his employment prospects post league are going to be great.
I'd imagine his popularity in Fiji would see him enter politics...

Watmough will retire to help parra with their cap. For his efforts he'll receive a car, a boat, a holiday house on the Parramatta River, free botox and a dinner date with Foz and the Dalai.:giggle:

Choc must be thinking he's been kissed on the dick by a fairy, if his contract is paid out under a medical.

@ $750k a season for four years is 3 million. He has played 17 games for Parra. That equates to about $146,000 a game.

He should be in the Premier League.

Think about this.

Watnow is guaranteed about another $400k this year and what we believe is another $1.6 Million over the next two years.

So he's going NO WHERE unless that money is 150% ironclad guaranteed.

An insurance company has to approve the 1.6 million plus the $400k otherwise that's still part of their cap ( aren't you all
loving the whole karma of this now).

Is that going to happen in 9 days ......very doubtful.

So here's the good bit, they've probably gotta get rid of a bunch of others as the Twatnow deal won't be approved in time.

Lol@parra indeed!!

As Parra is such a rich Club, so long as Choc's payout is approved by the NRL to be Cap exempt, he could get a payout this week from them.
The Insurer would just be asked to pay any benefit monies direct to Parra by Choc.

The 5 crazies need to be replaced, as the NRL is deregistering them in 5 days, for Parra to play for points, irrespective of the clearing of the 570k Cap

This could potentially drag out for the duration of their Court case against the NRL >:)

The reality will be that the Infamous 5 will be paid off by the Club to resign

I thought they couldn't change clubs after June 30th so if that's true it means if they are not compliant by then they can't play for points all season.

NRL have offered to accommodate them to get them under the Cap.
Just like allowing any damages payment to Hoppa to not be counted in their Cap

Can you imagine how it would be if the situation was reversed and it was Manly that was rorting the salary cap, they would have taken our license and given it to Norths, yet we have a situation where they're bending over backwards to make them salary cap compliant to appease the broadcasters and not disenfranchise their fans.

At least we don't have to be sucked into the test being of any importance and crap about poor old Inglis being out of form. The Parra stuff is a joke and makes me smile everytime I hear it. I don't really care much at all about them same as Storm or the Dogs. Can't help BAD LUCK.
