Overrated players...

I am interested to hear who you people think are the game's most overrated players...the sensationalism of the media is the catalyst of this thread. The term "immortal" is thrown around willy-nilly and I heard Gasnier say that James Tedesco is just about the best player in the game today; WOW!

A player can be exceptionally good and still be overrated, so this is not about choosing players that are no good. No good and overrated are two different things.

I'm gonna say that James Tedesco is overrated; he is not close to being the best player in the game today. I also think Gutherson is overrated. Ash Taylor=overrated. Nathan Cleary=overrated. Bronson Xerri= overrated rookie.
The list goes on.

couldn't agree more. Morgan is a bit like Hayne...a stellar 8 weeks at the end of a season, never to be repeated again.

The run those two made to get their teams into a GF (which they both lost) was mirror like. Halcyon performances which they (so far in Morgan’s case) have never backed up.

Don't get me started on Josh "I just wanna be recognised as world class" Dugan...that guy is an absolute moron.

Pretty much agree with the rest too. Crichton had a good rookie year for Souths and has done nothing since, Pearce has a terrible kicking game, Tamou hasn't run hard in years, Milford is not a half (but what else could he be?) and Reynolds is just effort and not much more.

yeah Dugan was signed as "world class" on some serious coin. The other night they had him on the wing and he couldn't stop dropping the ball. That's an expensive winger to have dropping the ball all the time. Sad, sad state of affairs, having him at your club.

I think he is good but not the best player in rugby league. He only just learnt to pass a football late last year.

Yeah I think there is some truth to this. I think there were a few too eager to cast Koroisau aside after a couple of opportunistic cameos from Manase. Agree, talented, but a long way to go yet.

Interesting you mention Campbell-Gillard.

Personally, I am seeing a bit of trend in the game at the moment with young props. They seem to burst on the scene and have a couple of bumper seasons before all the enterprise goes out of their game. The same thing happened to Klemmer. He used to be explosive and dynamic (much like Campbell-Gillard) but a couple of years of first grade, they become plodders. They amble up to the line and sure, they work hard and make some metres, but all the fizz has gone out their games.

I don't know what to put it down too. I think maybe weights programs have a bit to do it. A lot of outside backs look lightening fast during their first 1-2 seasons, before putting on lots of weight and losing their speed. I noticed it with Turbo and Walker...they were lean and quick when they first started out in FG and although still fast, they are a yard slower to my eyes.
