I don’t think we will get the spoon, but we will be closer to that action than the pointy end of things.
I too thought 2016 was the low point and saw huge improvement in 2017. I was very excited by what I thought would be further progression, but we have slipped badly.
Without blaming the coach, who can actually say we look like a first grade team in defence and attack. There seems to be very little cohesion, and if you compare things to last year, the loss of Green appears to be enormous. Surely that can’t be the only reason for the sharp drop in effort since the back end of last year.
Agree mate
Like your thinking
I have been an optimistic supporter of manly for over 40 years but find it hard to get any feeling of optimism for us at the moment after being very excited at the beginning of the season
The look in DCE, eyes are the same as 16
The cliches of training hard and working together are the same as 16
Trent pig headed selections are the same as 16
Our ability to just drop off when the chips are down are the same as 16
The indisputable divisions within the team are the same as 16
The phoney denials that there are no rifts in the playing group and coach are the same as 16
Our abysmal management of the club by Penns are the same
The silence of support by leaders past and present of our club are ambiguous and at best half hearted or do not exist at all just like 16
I know many do not want to hear it but past players involved in 16 basket case speak about the need of earning respect of the team and not just demanding respect of the team
While no one can deny DCE his enormous talent and the passion to give it all, I think there are serious doubts as to his ability to lead a team and create a united cultures
Polarising is a polite word that has been often used by many
He is much more suited to be a team member than a team or club leader but has been put in this position by Barrett who backed DCE who drew a line in the sand and gave him the mantle
We will finish the season in the same or worse shape as 16 and hope we can hang in there and see some of the young ones come through and te build our fabric
All our opposition supporters think it’s obvious And that’s DCE is an equal liability to us as he is a superstar
I don’t want him sacked but do want him to stop trying to prove that he is the leader and just play his time in the team
BTW
I support Jackson being given the opportunity to have a run in the top grade
