I love Origin bu they need to look at condensing it. Stretched over 9 odd weeks is madness. I'm already a bit fatigued by it all.

I'd like 3 back to back Wednesdays with a two weekend NRL break. Womens SOO, under 19s Origin and pacific tests on the two weekends.

All clubs miss players the weekend before, all clubs rest or backup players the weekend after.

A storm of intense interest for a short period then it is gone.

After 40 odd years of it, I'm well and truly over it, I'm fed up with all the hype many months leading up to it, it totally sucks the life out of the competition.
If it was just one game it would be OK, we have it and move on, but two out of three is way over the top, it's just for channel Nine and the NRL to maximise revenue, however it greatly tarnishes the week to week competition, not to mention injuries to elite players.
Back to back would be a lot better than what we have at the moment, but channel 9 will knock that on the head before the NRL even considers it.

Hundreds of thousands (in total) in the stands and millions more watching here and OS would beg to differ with you Pete. It makes a heap of money for the NRL too so in a way it's helping pay for the rest of the comp. I would agree on one point though - I just want our boys to get through unscathed 🤞🏻

No doubt about the crowds and the viewers on TV, and the money it brings, it's just that for about 8 weeks of the year the media is saturated with SOO, and the competition is very substandard due to the lack of elite players, it really defines whether a team makes the finals or not due to a favourable draw through this period.
I tuned in to NRL on Fox last week to see what was said about our great win over the Dragons, and all they talked about was Origin, for 60 min basically.

I've seen this movie before. NSW will win comfortably tonight, be lulled into a false sense of security and be down by 20 at halftime of game 3, eventually losing by a try or 2.

Its already obvious that Game 3 will be the decider.
