omnipotent beings discussion

Let me get this straight, we register Matt Lodge, and we register Russell Packer, who both committed very heinous crimes, and yet farkwit Peter Beattie, straight off the cuff. announces that the NRL will not register Folau, who has committed no crime, he just expressed his religious belief, but wait! , I see now, he's a christian expressing his religious belief, and in today's society that's not allowed, however if he was a muslim, well that's ok then, because they're a minority, I farking give up.
Consistency is overrated :nerd:

Let's not relitigate Folau as his just unsuited and unaffordable in our Club @

These rugby codes seem to be running scared of political pressure groups out to push the ultimate in political correctness (aka knee jerking). I should point out firstly that I don't know fully what Folau put over the e-screens, and he probably was showing a lot of naivety and quite frankly stupidity for an opinion that should have been kept private. But again we see an over reaction from the administrators of these codes, running scared of a backlash by pressure groups who may have good cause but are acting like witch hunters. From what I understand, Folau put something offensive on the net, and sure he needed to be kicked up the derriere over it particularly given his fame. But here we go with the consistency issue again. There are footballers out there who have done far far worse and have been slapped on the wrist. But if it is the political football of the day, suddenly we have these over the top reactions. It seems that authorities are making up their own laws and punishments to suit the topic of the day. Madness.

My opinion. Folau needed a good kick and a little education. But dismissal from the game...my goodness. Yes if the kid is available go for it. But make it plain to him to keep his opinions to himself and not display his dirty laundry for all to see.

I think its worse than that I think he was actually quoting from the bible and yes he probably believes it , but it is a quote from the document that underpinstI the whole Christian-Judeo ethos ,and yet as you say a christian pretty much paraphrasing/quoting the bible is banished yet convicted criminals are welcomed back with open arms,so long as Greenc&%t has looked them in the eye .
I don't care about gays or what they do one way or another and same for Folau but I find it very difficult to reconcile the dichotomy of those 2 positions
In fact the only thing that i am crsystal on is that I cant stand Greenc&%t and that grinning twitt Beattoff !! They both have to go
Go Manly

Funnily enough I was speaking today with someone very, very close to the ARU and he said they have lost heaps of Corporate support because of what's going on and how the whole situation has been handled. It's not that the Corporate's are for or against Folau, they just do not like the situation or the way the whole thing has been dealt with and it's polarising the rugby community.

While he is a wonderful athlete and would be an asset to any club, given the experience of the ARU and the apparent drop in corporate support as a result, what would be the potential loss of corporate revenue for a club? I don't think too many fans would be upset but the Corporate's may deem it a risk to be associated, even if he agrees to have his social media posts vetted. And anyway, why would he agree to have his posts vetted if he completely refused to have them removed.

If he was ever going to be allowed back in the NRL, my bet is with the Warriors. His wife is a Kiwi and while she currently plays for Adelaide I am sure she would be happy to head home and start a family.

Two faced prick.. Isn't he saying that he will give the Nrl veto control over his social media posts if he is allowed back in. Couldn't he have given that same concession with his ARU posts.. I guess that when you are probably about to lose a million dollars a year, God is probably okay with bending your beliefs a little bit..

I read his undoing was posting a meme that started with "WARNING" & went on to say the categories of sinners he named would go to HELL when in fact the Bible only says they shall not inherit the Earth, or something along those lines.

Yes, I found that quite surprising considering it was supposedly all about his right to express his religious beliefs- his backflip to then say he would be happy being censored was quite a turnaround!

Anyhoo, I wouldnt want him at Manly for the same reason others have already stated - he's a divisive character & could cause disharmony within the team.

Folau launches lawsuit

Video provided by The Independent

Sacked former rugby international Israel Folau has launched legal proceedings with the Fair Work Commission against Rugby Australia and the Waratahs for breach of contract.

Folau's lawyers said under Section 772 of the Fair Work Act it was unlawful to terminate employment on the basis of religion.

In a statement, Folau said: "No Australian of any faith should be fired for practising their religion."

Well that’s what the press alluded to, but Israel said nothing of the sort, and his original post is still up.
