NRL predicted 2018 Manly line up

Just on seaeagles.com.au the list of forwards and backs and I note three important things.

1) Tom Wright is listed as a 5/8 NOT as centre

2) Parker is listed at centre

3) Croker NOT mentioned at all.

Remember that is from the Eagles themselves.

I wouldn't read too much into that Mark, T. Wright's last game was at 5/8, Parker is still a centre (given the 2nd row depth) and Croker is under the radar ... although I hope somebody in payroll knows he has signed on.

But, I just don't think they put much importance on it .... Thommo is still listed on the dragons site .. and as a centre.

The odds were in reply to a light hearted question by a poster on the odds of Thommo starting in Walker's centre position.

Yeah that was me just asking what chance there is of Barrett playing Thompson at centre and Winterstein in the back row if Walker is still injured come round 1. I doubt that would happen because I think Thommo has been bought primarily as a back rower, but its something that Barrett could be thinking about. However, if Dylan is unavailable I think its most likely that Brad Parker will get the gig to start with.

Personally I think we have a very strong squad, but the only positions I see us as somewhat lacking is the halves. Let me explain that. Yes we have Cherry and that's great so long as he's out there. But after him, if he gets injured for any length of time (or Qld actually NEED to pick him for Origin - they won't unless they absolutely have to) and we haven't managed to sign someone like Hodkinson, who do we have that can come in and provide similar who has the experience to lead the team around the park? Hastings and Croker are talented, but lack that level of experience. Wright has zero first grade experience and I think that moving Walker, Api or even Siro would be an absolute last resort.

After DCE, our halves experience takes a severe nose dive which is I think one of the main reasons we're chasing Hodkinson.

I think Barrett wants to avoid a similar situation to 2016 where our halves were all over the shop like a mad woman's custard and it went a long way to where we finished on the ladder.

Remember in 2016 we used at different times DCE, Walker, Godinet, Killer, Api and even Matty Wright for a couple of games. And out of all those possible combinations, only DCE and Killer really worked. And shock horror.....they were the most experienced.

I just checked out the 'official' NRL site. Obviously the 'writers' don't read one another's stories.
In one, on club casualties, it lists Walker as not being fit to play until round 5. Yet in another that predicts Manly's line up for round 1 it has Walker at centre.
So in upcoming YARTS you better pick a replacement for Walker. I guess the obvious one is Parker, with Tom Wright another possibility.

I think that one of the most interesting considerations for the i st round starting side is the composition of Manly's bench and whether Baz will still prefer one utility player or a full compliment of forwards there . Maybe if Hastings is the six , who could also revert to half or full back , it could be the latter bench option with all forwards and with Siro to cover 5/ 8 and Thompson the centres [ or possibly Frank from the bench ] . If Croker is considered the preferred six , Baz may then include Hastings on the bench as a utility role and then with the three forwards option .

I think throwing a Parker or tom wright in round 1 be unwise.
I think given walker out for up to 4 weeks.
Parker stats are not any different to Kelly in don’t think we want 2 flaky centres.
Here how I think round 1 will look
1. Tom t
2. Jorge
3. Kelly
4. Uate
5. Matt wright
6.croker
7. Dce
8. Tapau
9. Korseau
10. Lussick
11. Sironen
12. Thompson
13. Jake t
14. Perrett
15. AFB
16. Sipley
17. Lane

Parker is no Rookie . He has played 9 nrl games since 2016 with distinction . Injuries have held him back . I consider him a stronger and faster player than Kelly . In the modern NRL game players with superior speed, size and strength dominate .

The round 1 team IMO ought to be
1. Tom Trbojevic
2. Jorge Taufua
3. Brad Parker
4. Matthew Wright
5. Akulia Uate
6. Curtis Sironen
7. D. Cherry-Evans
8. Darcy Lussick
9. Api Koroisau
10. A. Fonua-Blake
11. Martin Taupau
12. Joel Thompson
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Lewis Brown
15. Frank Winterstein
16. Shaun Lane
17. Lloyd Perret

I really want to put Tanginoa and Sipley somewhere in the 17. I think without the attacking weapon that Walker is, Manly
might be better off with a more defensive side until Walker comes back. It's only my opinion and being shot down by fellow Eagles supporters is cool by me......

I think 4 and 5 might change around , otherwise close to the mark.

Did he make the emerging Blues team this year?

It appears Freddy, Baz, u20s NSW selectors and the real Bozo all disagree with you.

But you probably know best because you consider him "stronger and faster". Career as a selector on the cards perhaps?...

I am too afraid to advise him that players with superior speed, size and strength have been dominating since 1908, in case he sends me a meme proving (in his mind only)that they haven't.

Not convinced by either parker or kelly.but brian marginal ahead with line break ability. He edge strengthen alot with thompson in defence.
