NRL 2018 predictions: Fox Sports experts give their tips for the season

I have full confidence in the players abilities , coach and club to be rightfully up there.
I have no confidence that Greenturd and his band of whistle blowing c***smokers will allow us to realise that ability.

Full house, going to be almost impossible to win I think, they will be unbelievably pumped up.
I think that's the perfect set-up for us to ambush them!
Everybody thinks Newcastle will be amazing, but they haven't factored in how long it takes for combinations to gell.
We will beat Newcastle and deflate a massive bubble.
Our second match is the one that worries me.

Good points ... but I am thinking we will also have to take into account all deciding factors .... such as .... who will the NRL like to see win ....

Manly or Newcastle fairy tale ..... Manly or Newcastle fairy tale .....

Buggered if I split them ....

The 2011 side was a great side . I don't know what Voss was thinking

Hey @BOZO. It was a great team. Not a team full of big names. Let's look at these names from the start of 2011.

2. Not a big name. A journeyman. Ever reliable. He is a Manly superstar in my eyes, this bloke just never got the wraps he deserved, but at the start of 2011 you would hardly call him a world beater.
5. An untested rookie.
6. Still a rookie. A few more games and wraps but still way young, green and can he handle it without an experienced half to hold his hand.
7. An untested rookie.
14. Shane Rodney. (Every thing I said about Robo repeat)
15. Untested rookie.
16. Untested rookie.

The no names and kids were just as much as part of that great premiership winning team as the star rep players.

Great teams need them.

In Kelly and Matty Wright we trust.

Shrouded in mystery, rarely seen or heard, the legendary five-piece Australian rock band The Barking Spiders has announced a special one-off performance at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Wednesday Feb 28. This will be the band’s first public gig in 35 years.

I don't see it your way feathered friend as our 2011 no names
were capable of producing the goods in big games
and that is the difference .
We will agree to disagree

When it comes to average backs. I just think your a little hard on these two. We both love our Eagles, I don't doubt that for a second. And how boring would it be if everyone agreed.

This is a bloody good young list. Young dosent always work out. But if it is as fit as a fiddle, a little cocky and almost annoyingly confident. It's dangerous. I think this list is already there.

I don't talk us up every preseason. Far from it. I genuinely believe this is a team on the up. If we can add a little more grit and experience. I just like the look of it this year. I really do.

I like your optimism and I was also impressed with most of the young talent that gave us a glimpse of what they have to offer in last weeks trial game .
Like all of us I also have my own views on certain players that I don't rate .
I have been proven wrong by my valuations in the past and I hope for the sake of our team I will be proven wrong again .
I love this forum because we all get a chance to say it like we see it and I hope I will see positive play from all our boys against the roosters .

The point that these Tipsters miss is that Manly is not up against all 15 sides. @

They will knock each other out on the way to the GF and not just be focused on Manly :shake:

Backing Baz one game at a time

I feel confident this year (there goes the season - sorry!)
Our team seems to be very much built around being a team - all for one, one for all etc.
Most have been together for a while now and have bought into The Way of Trent. Lyall Gorman seems to be the same sort of bloke.
That old thing about a champion team beating a team of champions may well apply - even though we've got a few champions in there.
Onward!

I agree with you.
I just checked a list of players Manly added in the 3 years after finishing 13th in 2004.
Yes there are a few marquee signings in there - and also a lot who contributed without really making the grade - and also a few whose reputations were enhanced by their play over those next few years, as the team grew.
Building a team is not just about buying star players. But before you know it we had a grand final side.

Michael Witt 2005
Brent Kite 2005
Ben Kennedy 2005
Stephen Matai 2005
Jim Curtis 2005
Mark Bryant 2005
Ashley Alberts 2005
Travis Burns 2005
Steven Bell 2006
Matthew Orford 2006
Michael Robertson 2006
Adam Cuthbertson 2006
George Rose 2006
Mailangi Styles 2006
Glenn Hall 2007
Jamie Lyon 2007
Matthew Ballin 2007
Clint Halden 2007
Shane Neumann 2007
Jack Afamasaga 2007
Sione Finefeuiaki 2007
Jason Wells 2007
Michael Bani 2007
Vic Mauro 2007

Whatever.... didn't they predict us as bottom 4 last year. Anyone seeing a pattern here?

You may have coined a phrase .. "The way of Trent" .... or WoT for short.
