Struggling Sea Eagles to miss finals
Manly have slid back to the pack in recent seasons and their run of seven consecutive finals appearances looks set to end in 2011. While Des Hasler still has the core of the 2008 premiership-winning side at his disposal, the Sea Eagles have slowly lost squad depth while failing to rejuvenate their roster with strong signings. If Manly suffer a similar injury toll to last season they could fall as far as the bottom four. :giggle:

I feel as though we will be top 4 or bottom 4 this year.
We we're very lucky to squeeze into the 8 last year as the comp from the other teams for those last few spots were weak, we showed glimpses of being good enough to win the comp, but they weren't consistent.
We lack quality first grade depth in most positions and the halves pairing is a real gamble.
That being said the cliche Manly perform the best when written off, hoping is proven as fact

Mate, compare the squad we have this year to what Toovey had when we finished ninth. You are also failing to factor into the equation that quality players improve over time, and the fact that we have a very settled squad. If Tom, Jake, Api, Siro, Walker Lane, AFB, Perrett, all continue along there upward projectory. And Jorge, Thompson Uate, Marty, DCE continue to play as they have for many seasons....AND a couple of Kelly, JetSki, Tanginoa, Pasekaka, T Wright, as well as a host of other potentials step up. We will do very well this season. Then there’s Winterstein and a host of other quality back up players giving us great depth. I think we are in a position to do very well. If we get Carney or Croker fires look out.
Agree to disagree I guess.

I think the 5/8 and prop situation is going to really hinder us this year. I think our front row was a big reason we couldn't go to another level last year. If Taupau didn't have a big game, we had very little punch up the middle. We stayed in so many tight games last year because of Blake Green's kicking game (particularly short kicking) and his composure under pressure. We won't have that this year and it'll be the difference between winning and losing 2-3 games. That's all it takes to miss the 8 these days.

God loves a Manly supporter, and the Manly fans love to have adversity placed in their face, we love Manly haters and to those who do not understand our culture, the more likely we will over achieve! 15/1 bit short...love to see 25/1

to the non believers :finger::finger::finger:
Today Sportsbet has us at $26.
I put a few dollars on 3 weeks ago at $21, didn't realise we'd drift further before the comp even started!

Although I expect we'll come in a few points after this week's trial match-up with the competition favourites when people realise we haven't faded away.

I personally think we will struggle (due to our 3,4 and 6) but the difference between the 5th or 6th team and the 10th -12th teams are usually injury, luck and being on the end of bad ref decisions.

Our forwards look like a good pack and that could just make us a real dark horse.

So fingers crossed.

You can get mid $20's for Tommy Turbo Dally M medallist, put that into Manly to win the comp and you have a nice 500-1 payday

He’s a complete d1ckhead. His giddy up sign off at the end of each and every article he posts on the NRL site is clear evidence of this fact. He is also a massive over talker who loves the sound of his own voice. Then there’s the fact that he tries so Hard to sound like a a man of the people with his knockabout forced Aussie accent. He’s a goose personified.

Whenever I am forced to listen to Voss ... the most common word to enter my mind is buffoon ....

I still think this season is a coin flip.

A combination a few guys coming back from major injuries, combined with a few more injuries and suspensions could make it a long year.

Having said that, if we can get through the first 6 weeks in reasonable shape and the likes of Walker, Darcy, Jorge, Sirro, Jake T can come good than anything can happen.

I have real concerns over Dylan Walker, his comeback will be a lot later than round 5, if he comes back at all.

Yeah, Nah - 1st or die trying

Have we improved? I'd say we finished last season well. The team were knocked out of the finals after an appalling officiating display vs the panthers.

I think the team is growing as a unit and personally im looking forward to a good season and see a top 6 finish, pending injuries.

We are written off every year. The day I take stock and buy into what 'commentators' say about the Sea Eagles is the day you can lock me up in a the loony bin and throw away the key.

Well we are certainly being written off by everyone, I haven’t read a single prediction that says anything other than we’ll be lucky to make better than bottom 4.

I’d agree with others 6/4 are real holes for us , Dylan might come back but also might be a total failure, and Croker a total unknown, could be ok, could be a failure.

I still think we will surprise many but this may well be a tougher year than 2017.

I think we are pretty much the hardest team to read this year in terms of where we'll finish. Have the potential to go OK but also to nosedive with injuries. Predictions on us this year are more than the usual amount of guessing.

We won more than our share of close games last year and I reckon we'll need some of the same luck in the close ones again. Plus we have some players injured for the start of the year and the 5/8 issue.... and a potential ambush in Round 1 against a Knights team that are treating that game like turning a point in the clubs history.

Its funny these exact so called experts had us as favourites to win the comp if we signed pearce, now we are coming laet. Makes no sense
If that's the case and Crocker steps up and does as good a Pearce then we're sure to win the comp, but I have a feeling it might be a bit more complex than that.

All fair points... and potentiometer the money. I’m just hoping for improvement and a few players to really step up.

Full house, going to be almost impossible to win I think, they will be unbelievably pumped up.
