Moving forward improvements needed

I'd have Simpkin on bench. Bullemore had a shocker but he gives more mobility than Sipley or Lodge. I doubt Koula will stay on bench possibly Taulau out injured next week but who knows what the judiciary clowns will do to us. I said a couple weeks ago was waiting for the nrl to hobble us. I bet they'll find a couple of bullsht suspensions out of this debacle.
Aloai has a record so he will miss a game I think. Although nothing in it.

Garrick hip drop was laughable but the way the nrl is he’ll prob get suspended.

Ben Turbo nothing to worry about.

Bully can’t even recall his incident tbh.

Was Talau also on report? I honestly lost track last night.

The dummy half distribution put the runners out of sync and created a snowball effect of awkward looking shifts and the playmakers were given hand grenades often....the momentum was shunted at the play the ball continually...very frustrating and will be costly if not fixed....and quickly
maybe the other players should watch B.F.B. (back fence brown) get the ball. he receives the ball at speed, at the ad. line whereas most of the others last night sat back and waited for the ball so they had zero momentum when the defence hit them

F**k me if the evidence doesn't suggest that Butler hates rugby league. His main aim in life seems to be to make every game he's ever involved with unwatchable. How he can manage to nitpick every inconsequential thing and yet still be so wildly inconstant is beyond me.
Then the "down town" penalty and making it worse I'm watching Fox with Roach and co going "Yeh they been cracking down on it and they were in front of the kicker"....I mean yeh, round 2 there were a few penalties out of the blue, but it's fallen off the map and if they wanna get serious with this ruling....they will get the players EVERY time as there's ALWAYS players in fornt of the kicker unless setup for a bomb to contest.

Very true, but even Browny even mistimed a few hitups, as he was slowing down to catch it at times due to the slow play ball and slower pass from the dummy half

Refs are killing the game. This galoot gave far too many penalties, six-agains and place too many players on report.
At the start of the season the refs let teams decide the outcomes, but now its obvious refs are trying to keep matches close.
Put the bloody whistle away refs!

Yep, Butler was poor last night.

He even pulled out a downtown penalty against us that no ref has done for 3 months.
Even that was bs as Paseka was the only player in front of DCE and he took no part in the play

#1 improvement needed is to stop Lachlan Croker kicking from our half on the 3rd tackle.

If they are 40/20 attempts, his success rate is not worth it.

More importantly, every time he does it seems to be the first set after Manly has scored a try. He's just kicking possession & momentum away. Half the time ref's penalise Manly in the ensuing set.

Keep the ball and every chance Manly get a penalty or six again on tackle 4, 5 or 6.

Just stop it Lachlan. Please. Leave it to DCE.

Warriors have a big and powerful pack led by AFB who is correctly rated as one of the most dominant forwards in the game. Last night they fielded one of their strongest sides of the year plus they were up for it. I think they would have beaten most NRL teams.
The ref calls giving them even more possession made it even more meritorious that Manly held them out as well as they did, having said that a few Wahs drop balls on our line in the second half helped us out too.

So - yes Manly does not have one of the best forward packs in the comp, not far off but for next year could do with some bolstering. For example a prop that can play out a season without needing 2 miles of sticky tape every week to hold their knee together.

I was disappointed Lawton was out but thought Burbo actually played well, he will be better again next year.

Croker has more to offer than he’s shown these last couple weeks after not playing for a few months. He’s way off it at the moment. I think it’s easy to forget that he’s actually a really solid player since he’s been out for so long.

He has plenty more in attack to offer, haven’t seen him really link up with turbo in the middle, not running the ball, has a handy kicking game too thats just been nonexistent. Just think he’s struggling for form honestly, a better player than he’s shown since he’s come back from injury.

The downtown town penalty awarded to them when we were on there 20m line, for something that was so miniscule just summed up this ref on L plates.

I think we are one to two upgrades away in the forwards from really challenging the top3 teams.

We have been outmuscled the last two matches but have been good enough to hang in there. Penrith, Melbourne and Easts will make us pay for that.
Agree. I think we’re also not very good at the wrestle and slowing the play down. You really notice that part of the game when you watch Penrith and Melbourne play.

... and still I have no answer to my much-asked query: Do players actually pay these fines, or their clubs?
How could a rookie on minimum wage afford such expenses?
Is the fining of employees legal? I don't know of another profession that has the power to dock an employee for doing something incorrectly?

What I don't get is why players were put on report but no penalties were awarded..
