I think Waz 13, Des is using him almost exactly like Graham when Des coached Dogs....we need more oomph and speed from a lock and your call I agree with mate, unfortunately won't happen

For mind he made a couple of key errors which are disappointing considering he should be the forward leader. All that said I do not think he costs us the match as there were enough chances for them anyway

Absolutely pathetic performance from someone who is meant to be an experienced leader of the team. Don’t want to hear the Covid excuse for him like we did with Harper as he has been poor for quite some time now, tonight was just the cherry on top.

Should be playing for Blacktown for the rest of the year until another NRL or super league club is stupid enough to sign him.

Agree with most of that bob but Marty's issues tonight were not confined to 1 mistake... he made zero impact, did not control the ruck, had no fast play the balls and made some very weak tackling efforts... he was just poor...

Yeah I agree, if he has had covid I can understand and forgive the performance..

I think it is a mistake to expect anyone to play with 21 days of having the mildest form of covid.

A few weeks ago there was talk of a trade off with Marty and a couple of gun players up Qld and I was preying could work....but knew the other teams involved were not stupid enough to trade....as for Jake, would love a more versatile lock as slow in the modern game and more an 80,s style player, still love his big heart and effort so find it tough to aim up on him compared to others not having a go and May suprise when all our strike players are available

But i'm thinking the missed tackles might well be covid-related gassing.

I'm sure Marty would be hurting about his performance tonight, and how he bounces back is what matters here. He could well feel he single-handedly squandered an (albeit slight) advantage we could have carried into half-time.

IF Des yanked him (big IF), then that follows a recent pattern of yanking of a liability (eg named Harper a week ago).

We whinge and moan about Dec sticking with players to his own detriment - is this not a good sign that he finally discovered the hook?

I thought Harper was resurrected against (an admittedly crap) Knight outfit at home, in the wet. 2 factors that we failed at in recent seasons.

He benches Marty, after hooking Harps a week prior. We have Depth now. This can have a silver lining folks......can't it?

Didn't realise he was recovering from Covid but even that aside I'd be moving him on ASAP, he's our worst prop right now and you really don't need that from a guy on the coin he's on.

Marty does not look well. Even in the PR pic before the game!
Whether sickness or injury, or probably both, he's not right at the moment. Got Covid and also was hurt in the trial game and seems to have been battling ever since.

So why is he playing?

Could be he wants to play because he is coming off contract and wants to try to attract some interest?
Or more likely Des has asked him if he can soldier on due to our injury list?
Maybe a combination of both.

The funniest thing about that was he said it after we thumped the Eels by 50, who went on to win the wooden spoon, and we finished 15th.
