Game Day: Manly v Raiders [Round 12, 2018]

Uate fcked us up with his usual pathetic defensive play that cost us 12 points .

You have said this numerous times now.
I assume you mean the 2 tries that were scored by his direct opposite, Cotric ?
They were not worth 12 points, by the way, and I would argue that 1 of those 2 rushing up plays by Uate was warranted, given what Cherry and Suli were doing inside him.

The other one was entirely on Uate, not trusting his inside defenders.

We lost the game mate and you sound like we won it .
You sound like a North Sydney supporter who celebrates after a loss .
We lose and you want to stick it up me do you ?
Waiting for your reply 😉
Check the time of the post, and the loss had nothing to do with Kelly.

Plus it was tongue in cheek, but no, feel free to continue with the witty responses.

I saw both tries as bad reads by Uate . Uate is known to make bad reads and nothing has changed IMO
A try is worth 6 points and two tries are worth 12 and also cost us the game .

If you have the ball for 3 sets of six, deep into the attacking zone with 6 mins to go (6 points in front).... Hodko or dce with all their experience just have to get that field goal. They just have to be able to manage this game situation better.
Absolutely . I like DCE but sentiment aside he is getting paid 1 million to get the job done . Hodko should step up as well as he is playing nothing like an experienced half .

It will be a short conversation
I don't think so .
How did you see the game last night ?
Is our team still in the hunt for the 8 ?
What was the turning point ?
Do we need to make changes ?
Would you give Uate another chance ?
You are a passionate poster so fire away , I would be interested in what you have to say

A try is worth 4 mate.
Croker missed both goals of I recall correctly.

First of all - I’m playing Bozo; however, since you asked:

1. It was a game we should never have lost, we have a better pack but didn’t make the most of them - our main three middle forwards were not as dominate as I would have liked. We also have too many errors and deficiencies defensively. Lastly, I like Trent as the organiser; however, I feel Cherry went into his shell too much - they need to work on that balance.

2. We are now a long shot for the eight but if we can address our defensive concerns we may string a few together and give it a scare. We would need to win five out of our next six in my view.

3. Uate’s blunders aside, the turning point was the forward pass by the Raiders for their try. We also should have gone for a field goal a set earlier than we did and Cherry should have taken it.

4. I have been of the view for a while that Uate needed to be dropped. I would bring in Parker as he is an excellent defender and solid in attack. When Walker comes back I would be tempted to put Suli on the wing meaning Parker could miss out. Either way - no Uate.

When Tanginoa and Paseka are available - they both come onto the bench.

As usual very articulately written . Pretty good summation of the game in detail .
I think we managed to lose the game because of our poor game management . We had our chances !!!
I think you are right about winning 5 out of our next six games . If we don't we don't make the 8 IMO
The next 6 games ....
Cowboys
Warriors
Dragons
Panthers
Storm
Bye and Panthers again .
How many wins can you see here ?

Cows, Warriors, Storm are all very winnable and I’d be disappointed if we dropped any of those.

We would have to be at our very best against the Panthers - especially our forward pack. We would need to be ultra aggressive in defence. Penrith’s halves are outstanding and can only be taken out of the game by dominating their forward pack.

As for the Dragons, I just can’t see a win no matter what we do. They have our number and are the form team.

2 if we are lucky and 1 of those 2 is the bye. We are gone simple as that and its only May. 2016 again and this no idea coach will be around to take us through the next few years of mediocrity as well. Hello also rans.

I think you are right there and the next 6 games will determine our season . It will take a mighty effort from us to win a minimum of 5 games . It will either be high fives for the season or waves of goodbyes .
Hang on to your seatbelt feathered friend as we are up for a rough ride !!!

I didn't watch the match but I did check the stats and noticed that we lost the penalties again.
It seems that no matter what players we have, nor what coaches we employ, we almost always lose the penalty count.I'm not just talking about this season; it's been going on for decades.
Can someone do an analysis of our penalty count stats over the years?
I'm convinced that there is an 'inbuilt' bias against Manly. It is just not statistically possible to lose virtually every penalty count in a 50-50 situation.

In can understand your disappointment and words cannot change your summation but only results can .

I disagree in regards to Hodko mate. I thought he played very well in that first half and was steering the team around as an experienced half would. Should have slotted that FG but I thought the rest of his game was reasonably well controlled.

Agree.
Best way to beat the Raiders is to keep the ball out of their outside backs hands as much as possible. Finding touch consistently is a good option and Hodgko did that.
We handled Rapana, Wighton and BJ very well last night all things considered.
Cotric got away a couple of times as we all know.

I can see where your coming from but I expected a bit more impact from him with last play options . I think he can lift the bar higher

We had the game won and we let it slip through our fingertips . Take away our errors and last play inept options and we would have beaten the raiders and the refs easy
