Game Day: Manly v Raiders [Round 12, 2018]

I never really expected us to make the 8 after the fiasco in Gladstone. We seem to be having trouble thinking on and off the field.As long as we don’t get the spoon then I can Deal with it but I think we will be fighting to stay away from it this year. Last week was a little glimpse of hope but the more that things change the more they seem to be staying the same with us this year.

We can still make the 8. Api and Walker would of made a big difference tonight. Trent and dce will only get better. Plus more players coming back.

Need to bounce back next week though

I thought the team played well. Not sure why your calling happilymanly a sook for pointing out an obvious poor decision that cost Manly the match.

That team had that forward leader tonight Thompson worked his but off, and it is sad he didnt lead his team to a great victory.

It's the lack of improvement in this group. In DCE. What year was it when we just couldn't set up for a field goal which seen us loose in a similar style in finals?

Toovs has gone and Barrett's in, but it is the exact same areas which still let this team down.

Composure, game awareness, game management. Attention to detail in areas like goal kicking, kick offs.

I'm often DCE biggest supporter, but for the first time ever, i am going to ask, is it time to part ways?

The captain hasn't leart. He gets a few to learn from. But enough is enough.

I’m sure it’s probsbly been mentioned but for someone that’s played plenty of 9, Lewis Brown’s service out of dummy half during the game, noticeably when looking to hit a FG, was atrocious.

I accept that the team threw that game away. But if the refs standards were still where they were 10 years ago it would have been a very different game. Regardless of who you support, the NRL has a love for close games and the methods used to achieve them will destroy the code.

Demand the ball on the 5th. Feels like we ran on the last tackle more than look for the sensible option (repeat sets etc). 2nd week in fair enough but seems we were playing with one half again.

Despite the missed FG, I also thought Hodko was pretty good tonight. He certainly looked far more composed and solid than the other headless chook half. I thought DCE was unnecessarily over-playing his hand. It was like at times he forgot he had Hodko there and went back to panicking that he had to do something special too often. To be fair, it's probably going to take them some time to work out their combo and balance.

Are you serious? How is it dce fault. How about the hooker passing the ball over his head when he was setting up for the shot. Poo should never have been brought back on. Wright was passing a lot crisper.

Agree with TC. I know Uate is a popular scape goat, and I believe he could have made a better defensive showing in those two first half tries... but I think Suli's work inside him was a bigger contributing factor to what we saw at the end of each move. He also came in too far and early for the Raider's last try, which most people missed.

I actually thought Cherry was to blame for one of those tries Can't remember which one…

No such thing as a forward pass when outside backs are running and passing, the bs momentum formula applies to every instance that potentially could move the ball forward 10mm in the air.

The ball was forward though lol---just my pet hate with the over application or justifying a forward pass with a scientific answer when in 98% of all such incidents a player is not running fast enough or straight enough to allow a ball to have 1-2mtres of forward momentum behind it.

Plus he holds onto the ball for a fraction, almost double pumps, before passing.

Wrighty was better but his hammy seems to have flared up again 🙁

Some fair comments there, especially regarding the lack of improvement in DCE's game. I'm not sure we should be parting ways, as he is too talented in certain aspects, and until a better option comes along, we need those talents. I think we just have to live with the very real possibility this is the best DCE has to offer, and this is what we get. There doesn't seem to be any improvement coming in certain areas of his game. I guess the question of keeping him or not is more up to the jigsaw pieces assembled around him. If we can get the pieces right he is invaluable.

Would of been nice to get some better service. Thats what a good hooker does. Steers the forwards with short balls and then sends a nice ball onto his halves chest. Poo just totally fu$ked those plays up.

This is a problem I have with Barrett.Would TomT be a better player or improved at a quicker rate with another coach?He continually makes the same errors.When he gets the ball off the halves he runs at an angle,giving no room for the centre or winger.Dont get me wrong,I rate him highly,just worry that he’s not getting “coached” and won’t reach his potential.

Turbo will be in Camp at least and learning how to defend as a fullback

Once again Ted DiBiase shows why he'll never play Origin. Tommy tries too hard, put the kick away mate, you're overdoing it. We got some crap calls from refs, but bloody hell we were soft up the middle. Canberra are crap, but we've let them beat us due to lack of composure and inability to close out a game handed to us on a plate. That's a disappointing effort, sometimes we take dumb to a new level.
