It's only a game ...
Keppie in for Lodge. I'm pleased Ben is starting instead of Kelma. Also, it is a positive that Koula will be marking Crichton instead of Parker who will oppose Hosking.

Pete W

Bencher
Burbo starts over Tuilagi.

Interesting…
One of the few positives (maybe Tuilagi can come on in the middle to help out, way too vulnerable on an edge, especially next to the Schu)

also, I'm pretty sure Keppie will be up for this

Aside from that, $8 for a Manly win seems about right

Sean Keppie this could be a defining match for him 75 games into his career no better time than now to stand up and deliver. He has been way too inconsistent rumors floating around about him being shopped around now is your time Keppie pretty please do something positive Thursday night

Hopefully Burbo can reignite his juniors combination with Schuster with a few starts in the second row & start bringing Schuster out of his shell more.

Would be good for the future.

A very fast start is absolutely necessary in this game. One moment of non intensity will be part of a lost cause.

Just hope that the side does not go into the game with the same approach against the Roosters .
Predictable and middle based plays , very little set plays and minimum pressure on the opposition's defence structure .
Panthers spread the ball on the first play against Manly in their earlier game this season with good effect and had Manly 's defence off balance there after in the main .
Manly tried it against the Broncs but were let down by a lack of skill level and mistakes .
Tried it against the Dolphins with good results .
Again take the Panthers on too much in the middle and will almost certainly get outplayed with the depleted forward lineup
At least try and move their defence around a bit to unsettle them and clearance kicks to manage some reasonable field position . .
Cleary is a pretty fair kicker as well so not so much an advantage their but just to be a bit more competitive again by trying to unsettle their defence a bit
Might be asking too much being able to aim up all through the match in defence but at least to give it a go with the season drawing to a close now .
Burbo might add a bit more mobility and probably need big and quality minutes from Matterson and Bulemor as well . Tuilagi can still offer something worthwhile .

**** it, throw the game plan out the window , traditional ways of doing things will FAIL as they are so much better at everything.

Gotta try everything , mix it up , chip & chase , kicking on the 1st , short kick offs , rabbit traps , ball up the jumper , 40-20’s (20-40’s) don’t be predictable.

What’s the worst that could happen , we get flogged.

What’s going to happen if we play a traditional game , we get flogged.

May as well have some fun getting flogged , and who knows , could unsettle them.

Something like that Mark .Not total razzle dazzle but very hopefully to cut down on that really totally negative and boring one out plays in particular and lack of set plays .
Actually the better sides just seem to be able to switch to a better open brand of footy without too much effort . Sure that quite a bit of it results from team continuity and no doubt subsequent confidence level and the better place sides have had a good run with injuries which does help no end
Been getting some good home crowds this season and credit to all concerned there so also ideally be good to provide some better quality and entertainment footy to whatever crowd numbers do turn up

And no one wants the Walker brothers as coach and you come up with the ball up the jumper trick. Love it, use the 1975 Rugby Union City Country ploy.

Burbo should strengthen our edge defence. I think this will be just his second start in the forwards.
Started twice at second row last year, also once this year v Raiders in our big win (but was hurt in the first half.)

Interesting switch with Kelma, Burbo less impactful with his hitups but maybe a bit more of a mobile worker type. Maybe also getting rewarded for his attitude in wanting to take the first hitup after getting belted high last week? Go Burbo!
