I don't think its simply a case of "no Turbo, no win" any more.

He wasn't in the team in our one point win over the Warriors but was in the squad in our 38-32 win over them, which was a difference only of a converted try, so both close games, one low scoring, the other high.

He was in the team when we lost to Newcastle but I put that loss down to the ref screwing us.

He wasn't in the squad in our 50-18 thrashing of the Cowboys, but DCE & Jake were.

He was out for our 30-16 loss to Canberra but so were DCE & Jake.

We can win without Turbo alone but we struggle when he &/or DCE &/or Jake are out. Schuster can be added to this list too.

All true ... but we are still below 30% when he doesn't play ... 28.57% this year ... wrap it up and put a bow on it ...

The other ins and outs are merely players, actors on a stage, playing many parts, a Prop, a centre, a coach, all shuffling towards the inevitable disappointment of their own ineptitude

Having said this I hope we flog the DragQueens unmercilessly and put the witch to death .. Ding Dong!

In an effort to ensure a Sea Eagles win over their next opponents Ive just changed my footy tipping to the Dragqueens!!

Usually this will do the trick OR go back to the Bush for a month!!!

If I could answer that ... I wouldn't be sitting here in Paradise being constantly annoyed by women demanding sex ... I would be out playing golf with Donald Trump ..
You should read Rick Reilly's book Commander in Cheat which shreds Trump for cheating every time he plays golf, lies about his scores and that's just the start.

I know, I am hoping to get the gig as his "sledging coach" .....

If Turbo is out guys, I'd move Harper to fullback (he was amazing there in a very beaten team in the trial against the Tigers - especially defensively).

01. Morgan Harper
02. Jason Saab
03. Dylan Walker
04. Brad Parker
05. Reuben Garrick
06. Kieran Foran
07. Daly Cherry-Evans
08. Marty Taupau
09. Karl Lawton
10. Taniela Paseka
11. Haumole Olakau'atu
12. Sean Keppie
13. Josh Schuster

14. Lachlan Croker
15. Toafofoa Sipley
16. XXXXXXXXX
17. Ben Trbojevic

would be my team - the 16 could be whoever.
Personally I can't get on board with playing Schuster through the middle.

I think he is best utilised on the edge ala Glen Stewart.

And yes I know Stewart had the 13 on his back but he played edge not middle.

Was also at that Tigers trial and thought Harper was servicable at the back at best.

I'd be more inclined to go Garrick at the back and Koula on the wing.

But moot point, Dessie will do what Dessie always does

Yeah I know the stats are pretty damning but if you drill down & look for other possible factors, you'll find that there are other possible reasons, such as other key players also not playing.

Those key players being DCE, Foran, Jake & Schuster IMO.

I look at the 7 losses we've had this season as follows:

RDS 1-4 - as well as missing Turbo, we were (re)developing a combination between DCE & Foran, had changed our defensive system from up & in to sliding, & played 3 heavyweights in Roosters, Rabbits & Storm.

I feel the DCE-Foran combo & our sliding defence clicked in RD 5 in our 1 point win over the Warriors. That was the first game I saw hunger & determination from our boys & cohesion as a team - they looked happy to be playing with each other.

RDS 6-11 we had Turbo back & really started firing as a unit. Schuster proved himself to be a valuable part of our playmaking unit & the likes of Olakau'atu, Keppie & Sipley started building as players, seemingly improving each week.

I think gaining match fitness is another factor that benefited us in this period.

We lost to Penrith in this period but gave a much better showing than in round 4.

RD 12 was the Great Newcastle Train Robbery.

RDS 14-16 was resumption of the normal programming we created in RDS 6-11.

RD 17 we were without Turbo, DCE, Jake & Schuster, & Des made some "interesting" selections but I think he used this game as an opportunity to give Walker, Suli & Jetski game time so their fitness would be there for later in the season, should we need them due to injury & also to give him some insight into how those 3 played as part of the unit that's developed this season.

Now that SOO is over we can settle into the back end of the season with the likes of Jake & Schuster having had a good rest & others like Aloiai returning from injury.

A five star review - filled with logic and reason.

In fact, in the 30-16 loss to Canberra, we had:

NO TURBO
NO DCE
NO SCHUSTER
NO JAKE

Our 3 most senior 80 minute players & our X factor all missing meant the only leaders we had in that game were Foran & Marty (on field for 40-60 minutes only).

Canberra ground out a gutsy win over a very depleted Manly yet it was only a 14 point margin.

Not bad, we just lacked composure after being steamrolled by Canberra on the back of so much possession.
The raiders also
Lost their half back to the UK
Lost their 5/8 to NSW
Lost their prop to NSW
Lost their number one full back for the season

The moral of the story
If your good enough you will win

Chose to raise your standards

Or Choose to accept mediocrity by accepting excuses for your failure

Manly does not represent mediocrity . Manly represents magnificence

Time for our players to pull their finger out and start winning games with out Tom

Yep read it. It’s hilarious. Sone of gat stuff you can’t even make it up. Especially how he rates his own golf courses up against the worlds best.

Agree with all of this. Harper has been huge defensively in the centres and helps out Saab a lot. I wouldn’t change that at all. Garrick will be the fb.

I was irrate after the raiders loss but on reflection the amount of ball they had they should have put 50 on us. So much of the air went out after the Parker no try and we never got back in it. Walker at 7 was a shocker and that was on Des. Should have played Cust. I think this week will be completely different with Dce and Schu back in. They are huge inclusions on last weeks side.

Agree they were better on the night. Mind you I think if Wighton plays we probably win as Henjak junior basically kicked them to victory with repeat set after repeat set. Well done to them, they did what was needed to beat us on this occasion. We were off on the night. We’ll be better this Friday and looking to make amends. You’re only as good as your last game.
