Game Day: Manly v Cowboys [Round 13, 2018]

Devastating case of man flu is keeping me home tonight...a real modern tradegy (although I am really worried about this game)

Jesus. With a debutant and centre playing his first game of the year in their second row, surely there is going to be some serious holes in this defensive line?
The props are shoddy too (although Fensom has a big ticker)
If Taupau, AFB and Lane are fair dinkum, we should put 40 on them tonight.
In saying that, I just get the feeling the Cowboys will drag us down into a street brawl and it will be a slugfest.
Us by either 4 or 40 lol

I can see more than 30 penalties tonight. Cowboys are going to slow/infringe and leave the refs no choice and given we are not allowed to win a penalty count they will then ping us for very minor things (that you can ping a team for every set) and you will see the same threads created about our discipline issues.

I'm hoping for a win by 2 or 4 points...some think a blowout but I can see them getting a leg up and us having someone in the bin.

I really can't stand the journos unbalanced reviews. The cows have 1 more player out for origin than manly and they make it out as if we havent been affected by origin and that we have a huge advantage. Jake and Tom are just as a big loss for us than the cowboys, let alone our injuries. Yet the journos at NRL.com come out with headings like below. I hope we smash them tonight.

Well at least the new scoreboard and replay screen will be up and running, not 3rd world any more just 2 1/2 world!!

It’s like the dribble about QLD being massive underdogs for SOO1.

Let’s face it both NSW and QLD have almost new sides so it’s anyone’s guess really.

And no different to tonight, Cows under strength up against Manly under strength, toss of the coin but I’m still thinking the Eagles in a close one.

28-10

We have injuries no doubt but I think it’s been overstated as an excuse , especially given our sweet draw playing 10 out of our first 13 games against bottom 8 sides.

The key positions in a footy side are your spine and props to eat the metres.

Other than two games where Dylan played 5/ 8 ( and we won!) and Api missing a game we have had our first choice spine in place( Barrett’s first choice that is) and our lethal starting props haven’t missed a game.

Our issues have come

1 in the back row where there is not a great deal between our options anyway, especially with Lane, Paseka and co stepping up along the way.Kalepi and Sironen May be a touch better but they are hardly champions as yet .The way Barrett uses backrowers it hardly matters whose out there as long as they can tackle. They almost play no part in our attack. Our best second rower Thommo has played every game as well.

2 at centre with Dylan but Suli has performed very well and Matt Wright has exceeded my expectations.

A lot of teams would love to have their first choice spine and starting props almost every week ( see Penrith, Warriors, Knights, Sharks etc) If you are going to lose players second rowers and outside backs are my pick every time.

It hasn’t been perfect for sure but a lot of sides have lost key players.Absolutely no excuses tonight.Their pack is there to be smashed and I expect we will win well.

If we get done it will be down to effort and game plan.Put it this way 4 from 13 after tonight will be ridiculous given our draw and I don’t think it will happen.

Bad feeling about this one !!

Can see Taumololo tearing us apart, and Martin could be hard to handle as well
Well, he’s the one and only forward they have capable of doing it... For the Cows to tear us apart in the middle, Taumalolo will have to single handedly outplay Marty, Addin, Lane, Thompson and the support cast, because they have absolutely no other metre eating forwards anywhere else in the 17. Whilst all things are possible on a football field, I am not able to see any situation where the Cowboys win the go forward tonight. Our boys would need to be beyond terrible for that to occur. When big Taumalolo goes off, DCE and Api should be able to orchestrate a good win. If we don’t win this one, then some serious questions need to be asked. The good news is, we’ve been playing some good football this last month.

Case in point, Fensom looks like he’ll be playing in the front row. If anything, complacency is our biggest threat tonight, fortunately, the boys are hurting after last weeks game and there’s a few with a point to prove.
