Game Day: Manly v Bulldogs [Round 4, 2017]

Lewis Brown.....again does nothing, others play better.....but its him who gets selected.

:flogger:
Let me start this by saying that a) I would personally go with either Lane or Bainbridge and Hastings on the bench. and b) Brown would be dropped to rest "niggling" injuries.

But as Silvertails are we suggesting that Barrett sack the current NZ international Lewis Brown for

1) Hasting, a player sacked by Roosters and lanquishing unwanted in Budgiewoy and purchased for less than Zorba's lunch money?... or

2) Lane, a player sacked from his past 2 clubs, a reserve grader that has played a total of 2mins 29 secs of first grade for us? ..... or

3) Billy the "kid from Brookie" whose total appearances in First grade would not add up to one full game?

Yeah, that is exactly what we here, and a lot of others in the land of social media, are suggesting.

But we don't hold sway at the selection table.

Yep, that about sums it up. The highways are filled with former representative player roadkill who lost form and lost a first grade spot...just don't ask me to name them...because, well, I can't be assed - but they are there damn it!

Yes Woodsie, just yes. I'll take option 1,2, or 3 thanks!

Mate no idea how Brown is a international but he is, but we all know he is garbage. Problem is for some reason Barrett loves him. The moment I heard Brown was is the leadership group I knew he was going to get selected every week. A shame cause I like the look of Bainbridge and Lanes a big body with a bit of toe..

With Lussick coming back next week and Perret not long after, you'd think that Brown's spot in the team must be under some serious pressure. Hastings can cover 1, 6, 7, 9 and probably centre, so his utility value is much higher than browns. The only thing that could save brown is if Frankenstein is dropped. Hastings needs to have a good impact this week to sure up his spot..

Mate it's an absolute travesty, imagine being an up and coming player who rips in and doesn't get s look in because Lewis Brown is somehow in front of you in the pecking order. Who hasn't been employed by someone who insists on having an incompetent monkey overseeing your role. It's like scraping your nails down a chalk board over and over and over again.

Worse still, imagine that rookie with potential not getting a go behind Brown...signs elsewhere and becomes a gun...

Hozza, I don't so much think Brown is garbage, I just think this year we have better options. And I do believe his time is limited, goat photos or not, Baz will bite the bullet if Lane Hastings and Bainbridge continue to produce.

The difference between two negatives ..

Brown hasn't done enough to retain his position
Hastings/Lane/Bainbridge haven't (yet) done enough to take his position.

Woodsie, I value your input, you're easily one of my favourite posters on here. Insightful, balanced and knowledgable is how I would rate what you throw up on this site. But for the life of me I cannot see why Hastings and Brown are on the bench against the Dogs. The worst part of Brown's selection is if we win, he'll be a mainstay for the next month. There is no way Brown produces the play that Lane and Hastings put on at the end of the Cowboys game. And considering Lane is coming up against the coach that punted him across the ditch, I see his selection as mandatory.

As I said I like you would have had Hastings as the utility and gone with either lane or Bainbridge .... but it is what it is, I I believe Brown would have been the subject of a lot of discussions in the coaches room

The pressure is on, both for Brown to keep his spot, and the kids to take it off him.

PS thanks for those kind words.

It'll be interesting if Hastings and Brown are both on the bench, when exactly they come into play. Because if Trbojevic doesn't go off for his concussion test last week Hastings would only have received the short amount of time on the field he got at the end and to my memory Brown only came on around the 60 min mark as well.
