Turbo- not at his best
Haha, we expect so much every game from tom, only 260mts, 3 trys, 4 line breaks today, imagine if he played good
I agree with you we won and defence was OK and I am happy with the win , the point I was trying to make des knows how we played today won't cut it in finals game.

Yes dogs had a go and there Defence was good but at times we made them look good.

Don't get me wrong so happy with the win.
Yes, if Saab took that intercept in the first half, Covidly-Spreadertown may not have scored any points before halftime.

In the second, an appalling lapse in
concentration saw the ‘lickers score a freakish try from the kick off.

At the end, it could have been (at least) a 36-0 score line. Any other game, you would be pretty happy with that.

Then there were the near miss Manly tries, which could have led to a massive score in our favour.

I doubt if Hasler will rest players, certainly not key ones. He has contractual benchmarks to meet, which means stitching up a top four berth.*

Manly are not guaranteed a top 4 spot, we only have to lose and either Parramatta or Easts (or both) to win and we’re looking at 5th or 6th.

I understand Des has now been confirmed as coach through until the end of 2023. Going deeper into the finals however, courtesy of a second bite at the cherry, might add another year to that - or may confirm him as Head of Football from 2024. The agreement sounded fairly complex when it was announced.

*Obviously you do not want to signal your next opponents that you’re taking that game lightly.

the hair pull was an awful penalty. an accident.

but if was far from the worst decision in a game that had more than a few to chose from in a round of doozies

its seems the NRL doesnt watch its own games. after a full tilt crackdown the refs have laxed over the last 6 weeks and let plenty go citing the players change has influenced it. but.....enter a high profile incident and everyone is getting slapped again as apparently now the players have forgot the lesson. not the refs, players, possibly coaches but not refs. see how hard we remembered them this week

so one week out from finals the NRL hits slow burn on the self destruct button to achieve what ?

player safety took a 6 week break orchestrated by the flexible use of the head high rule

Is this just an exercise in punishing clubs and players to shift blame about the on again off again policing of the rules . if the NRL did what it said and stayed tough then a knee jerk reaction is almost impossible

who in NRL HQ is watching the games. they need some time off

We played not to lose. We were clearly playing a game where we had the concern of just getting through without injury and suspension. It showed in the performance. I’m not worried in the slightest by it.

Also...

I still think ruben's first 'no try' should have been a try.

The kick 'wasn't part of the tackle' - Meany deliberately tried (and succeeded) to kick the ball out. Another bunker stuff up, and anyway suck on that dogs coach.

If aloai's leg move was not a natural movement (where he was sin binned) than neither was meaneys tackle and should have been a penalty/ try or sin bin if rules are consistent?!

The best moment in the game was when Sean Keppie got penelized for a strip or something.

The good news from yesterdays game was that there was no bad news. No injuries, we did what we had to do, got the 2 points and got the hell out of there with our eye on the finals. The dogs played with a heap of intensity and emotion and we did not. But that's fine so we can save all that intensity and emotion for our first semi. Just what the doctor ordered for us. We had to fight back, come from behind after a slight scare and still managed to win comfortably despite leaving a stack of tries on the table. Score could easily have been another + 20 / 30 with a bit more luck. Upwards and onwards!!!

My thoughts also, it was a hot day and can't think of the last time we had a 1.50/2pm game in hot conditions.

Sometimes I get chuckle out of Vossy, other times I wish he would just turn it down.
There is nothing (and I mean nothing) balanced and rational about his commentary. Everything is either the best or the worst thing he has ever seen. I remember Luke Thompson scoring a try against Cronulla and he said Thompson was playing a 'best backrower in the game' performance. It's just one hyperbole after another and his dad jokes are so lame; like calling Bankwest 'Parra-dise". He is a moron.

Gave the Raiders a decent start but lucky to have the composure to overcome that , very ordinary i st half yesterday [ and with a majority of possession and 2 nd half for that matter ] and obviously just did enough to secure the win . No doubt has to be a mindset change and approach going into the finals . Suli to start in the centres and Paseka and Keppie to be included against the Cows , get the completion rates up again and in sync again with the attack as definitely a bit off yesterday for a good portion of the game . Must have been humid conditions but regardless , defence also seemed a bit jaded at times . Turbo had some classy touches as usual but would prefer him not so inclined to take the early ruck runs into the teeth of the opposition "s middle , not going to gain much of an advantage there against the better sides and just essentially get knocked around unnecessary , wait for them to tire a bit or when the Manly middle is on a bit of a roll .

If you watch the head on shot, Meany stretches his foot out to kick the ball out of Reubens hand, which he then regathers and scores, the side on shot doesn't show this

Did Aloai get charged, I hope not, with points from the last suspension he may do some time on the side lines. I'm liking what Aloai is giving us, good hard carry's and no nonsense defence.
