Manly Signings

Looks like that there is still some hesitancy in re signing Siro which is perfectly understandable . Probably just waiting a bit longer to see how Walker progresses in his current role but no doubt his manager is making some overtures behind the scenes . Surely the club is not waiting until the outcome or indication from Fainu "s upcoming court case in relation to re signing Croker but who really knows . Froggy deserves to be taken seriously as an ongoing 9 , back up 9, but then Lawton has come into the equation also and maybe the club has some inkling how Fainu 's case may be determined and some reasonable prospect of favorably . Saddler is still ideally a priority re signing .

I think Croker's future depends on Fainu's future , unless Manly offload Cust , With Fainu ,Cust and Lawton all signed for at least next year Croker could be the guy that doesn't get resigned

bit weird
Siro on his way out and fair enough unless we get him for bottom dollar
Yes I was a Siro fan at the beginning of the year and thought a fit injury free Siro would be great to have back and strengthen us immensely seeing I thought he was playing busted all of last year. BUT....... he hasn't been injury free and has shown us nothing to date. Out the door with Jetski and Boyle in my view.

Edited : I think your right on Siro, and also believe that Croker plus Boyle, Gosiewski and Taufua will not be given new contracts, and Cust's contract will not be extended either. Out of those players Croker would be the one to keep, but will end up spending a lot of time in Blacktown. (Fainu situation dependent of course)

Cust is not off contract

Croker is next priority in my opinion on a good price. With Fainu in doubt we can now rely on Croker. We don't wanna lose him now too and have to potentially find another replacement
I agree - offer him a modest 2 year contract.

If other clubs arent knocking yet then he can further show his improving abilities as hooker & either get a bigger contract elsewhere once those 2 years are up or upgrade with us if we need him.

Croker has only played approx 15 games as a starting 9. Now that he's adapting to the big minutes and defence load I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more kicks and runs.

As for Siro and Jetski, both had so much potential but injuries have interrupted their development.
They are both still only 27 and their injury record makes them cheap. Could well come down to how they are regarded off-field, with professionalism and/or popularity within the squad?

Why?

We have Lawton who is a better hooker. Once we are over our 2nd rower injuries, Lawton will be fine to move to hooker.

Cust is also signed as a 3rd hooker.
How do we know Lawton is a better hooker? He was a part time hooker at Warriors and usually off the bench. He hasn't once played hooker for us! That's why! Lawton is a gun and in my 17 every day of the week but I'm not sure he is a starting 9. Lawton is unproven as an 80 minute hooker! If he really was that great at hooker then I'm sure Des would have used him there for at least 5 minutes so far this season.
When we have Croker doing as well as he is and can get him cheap why wouldn't you re sign him?
And then we have Cust that can't get a start so obviously Des doesn't rate him too highly or again he would be getting game time.

If you forgot to read the first time.

Not sure how Croker has gone from terrible, hopeless to we need to sign him. Most here have been saying from the beginning to play Cust instead of Croker.

I'm not sure that'll happen and if it does he will go back to bench back up hooker.
Going by what you say, Lawton is that good of a hooker he will claim the starting spot ahead of Croker. I don't see Lawton being any more than back up this year and if we don't keep Fainu next year then we would go into next year with Lawton and Cust as our only #9 options. Surely we have learnt from past seasons that would be a big mistake!!!

Agree, If Fainu goes to jail, Croker should be signed or sign Cheese.

If Fainu is set free Croker is surplus.
