Don't recall Merv Hicks playing for Manly
He would have been 20 stone when he played for Norths and no way could he run let alone be a winger Maybe Mick healy you are thinking about?
Welcome aboard Andrew.I can give you some info from close up. My old man never played above 112 kgs, and was 105 kgs when he was captain coach of Norths. His 52 inch chest made people think he was enormous. I still have his very trendy Official Bears blazer which has never fitted me and I've been 115 kgs since I was in my late 20s. I can also tell you that he could still run 12.9 seconds for 100 when he was at the Berries. I would have been very happy as a lifelong Manly fan if he accepted Canterbury's offer to release him to Manly for no transfer fee in 1970, but they just didn't want him to go to Norths so they kept him at Canterbury with court action.
