Manly Injuries - is there a Positive reaction ?

Ok we know the old can't win without Tom T stuff too well
Schuster has also been a Massive out
This week we have Aloiai, Keppie and Kapow joing them
Not sure the thoughts here and the thread title maybe a bit 'tongue in cheek", but I think this Manly squad and Des are sick of the excuses and it has become an easy out to lose with the Star players - particularly Turbo.
In fact as much as the player love having the best players on the field, just hearing a few interviews and the general attitude of the players who have made the 17, its been almost a point to prove scenario and they have ALL lifted.
This has in fact taken the players to a better level and stepped up more so perhaps, than if we had eveyone available and could prove a real positive in big games when it counts.
They have found belief to get the job done and shown urgency to find another level.
Thing is when the Stars are all on board and these other players maintain that new level....this could be that bit extra that has been missing and the only way to find it was by being put in this situation of sink or swim ?
Yes there will be arguements that the opposition has not been Top shelf, but my arguement would be we would have often lost at least 2 of the past 4 straight Wins in times gone by, but dug deep and found a way to get the 2 points.
Anyways - just a perspective on gaining belief through adversity.....maybe a good thing in the long run home...

A win is a win .. and I'm a happy camper ...

BUT .. we beat Bulldogs by a last minute field goal after they missed 2 conversions.. only beat Raiders because they fell apart in a death wish ... and all but got run down by an average Tits team ..

So, I'm not about to sing come to Jesus just yet .. I'll just slip my threepence in the collection tray and hope the organist turns up again this week.

Thursday night will judge at what level this squad is at. I suspect we'll see the same old problems crop up whenever we play a top team.

Important to remember that Finucane and Hamlen-Uele are out...also rumours that Will Kennedy will be out...therefore, no excuses as the Sharks will also be missing two of their most important forwards and a fullback.

I don't believe Sipley is a reserve grader either. He should be in a top 17, full time. I've noticed the more he plays, the better he gets, too. Secondly, KDL is absolutely serviceable, Tuipulotu has been a godsend, and Koula has been one of our best players for two weeks. Then I turn to Bullemor. I think he'll shine this week and have a huge point to prove.

If that’s the case it’ll be closer than most think !!

Bullemor is a gun but I think he's a middle. He'd be good in the prop rotation instead of Keppie when we're at full strength.

Yet to see that mate. He disappears out of games a bit. If he got involved more, he'd be great. I want to see those Brisbane Broncos running lines. I said he was like Waddell, but someone rightfully said Brenton Lawrence is a good comparison. If we could get that (and he DOES have the leg speed), we'd be very lucky. He's really young and inexperienced too, so there could be a lot of growth to come.

Bully KDL and Sipley are all playing for a bench spot in our full-strength side to replace Keppie I reckon, so expect big games to prove themselves tomorrow.

Tuipolutu and Koula have been absolute guns in the games they've played, I hope we have a good development plan for both of them and they have permanent spots in the back 5 by the end of the year or at least next year.

Garrick at fullback has been so solid. Doubted him this year even though he was great last year because I wanted more spark, but just to have a safe, commanding number 1 at the back whilst our best player is out is such a Godsend. Love Garrick, has that Dylan Edwards in him, maybe even better than Dylan haha.

And man, my boi Andrew Davey, what a man. How can you not love this bloke's journey, he has been killing it. No nonsense footballer, great on both sides of the ball, runs a hard line with no fear, just a great backrower. Hope we can accommodate him in our full strength side as well when the time comes.

I would say our injuries have sparked a pretty positive reaction, they now all get tested in these next 2 big games.

We are winning that's the most important thing. We really haven't set the world on fire but we are getting the points. We need to improve significantly to be real contenders. I'm hoping that we are building up to it.

When we think about injuries how many of us give thanks to having DCE? This guy must be one of the most durable player in our club's history. I'd like to know just how many matches he's missed through injury over the past 11 seasons. I doubt it would be into double figures. He must play through pain and his mental strength must be immense.
So, whenever one of us has a shot at him we should all remember that he is a true warrior.

Touch Wood please.

This will be a huge huge test of our depth and I know the Sharks are short handed as well but our prop stocks have been decimated. I normally think we are a pretty decent chance in every game we play even without Tom. I think we are playing with some grit that we certainly didn't have in the first two games. Having said that I think this week we sadly might come back to earth based on our lack of prop depth. KDL is just a plugger - a great trier and will do a lot of tackling but his hit ups will just be cannon fodder and he wont look like bending the line. I was hoping EB might be the replacement for Marty next year and play a middle role but he was very quiet in his 1.5 games so far albeit on an edge. Sipley and Paseka wont really scare anyone in defence although Paseka can hit when he wants. Sipley is like Keppie - will go to sleep on the inside. Paseka can bend the line big time... but will this be a game where he will stand up... I actually think he will. Sipley is all energy in attack but also doesn't bend the line much but I think he will stand up.... I just don't think our bench will get us through and in defence I think there are some real worries with their lack of effort and consistency - aside from KDL. We will need the first 15 to play lights out and hope that no forwards get injured on the night. Hoping Bullemor really has a crack and proves exactly why we signed him. Lots of hope this week.....

Interesting to see who takes the goal kicking on this week. Garrick wasn't 100 percent at the end of the game vs The tits. Surprised he's even named for this game actually.
