CHAMPION fullback Brett Stewart is a free agent and prepared to quit Manly for the highest bidder. No one has taken the news of coach Des Hasler's departure harder than the record tryscorer. After Hasler was stood down by the Manly board on Wednesday, Stewart was the first player to visit him at his northern beaches home.

Well there you go, funny how the Stewart's haven't come out and said anything, but as soon as Des leaves the new comes out that they are looking elsewhere. Well done Brett & Glen $tewart.

Good luck to them both ..... obviously they are gone & don't have the heart for the MWSE!!

Also wouldn't have put it past Des to have given the Hoppa's a bit of inside info to make them (the whole family !!) want to leave the club and take the best offer.

Well we now know what Brett said to Gallop - show me the money !!! :argue:

I dare say that 2013 Brett and Glenn will be in the ESL anyway.
Snake and Gifty if money motivates you Widnes will have plenty in the next few years

They haven't left yet. Settle. No need to wish harm and sling names at them.

Mate im just getting ahead of myself.. I have stuck up for this kid since the incident happen in 09, When he was finally proven innocent, all the baggers had nothing to say to me.. On top of that he is without doubt the best fullback I have ever seen and is my favourite player...

Say he does leave... Whats our options for Fullback??? I dont think we have any great specialist fullbacks anymore..

Id be throwing some $$ to Dugan / Hayne

Exactly, he's your favourite player. No need to unleash on him before any facts are known on the matter. Stick solid and stay supportive and hopefully he will stay.

Let's just wait and see what happens. At the end of the day, if he goes, he goes. But let's cross that bridge when and if we get to it.

I dont see this happening,i see them going to england first

Surely Peters and Tooves are reason enough for them to stay

This is SHATTERING to even read..... Manly without Brett Stewart???? Please Manly don't let him go!!!! If this happens it will be the saddest day ever as a Manly Supporter.... Brett is a Cult Hero, A Legend and a gentleman....! I can't imagine anyone else at Manly in the No1 Jersey! :(

Its Mimis talking. He loves to talk to the media about players looking to leave to drive up their contracts.
Until Brett or Glenn say they are going I wont worry too much. If they go they might be the 2 least popular players in the NRL.
Most NRL fans already hate them both and if they leave Manly we will all not feel the same about them.

Brett Stewart could sign with any club in the NRL and you wouldn't get a bad word out of me about him. Unless we spend the two years he went through in his shoes, we can't say who our loyalties would rest with if we were in his position. As much as we can criticise Des for what it appears he has done to the club, his support of Brett during his darkest days was unwavering and very commendable. Brett would absolutely be thankful to Manly, and also to the fans for their support but Des would quite rightfully be first in line when it comes to who Brett feels the most loyalty to. I despise Des for how he has treated our club lately, but I thank him for the way he supported one of my favourite all time Manly players.

This is from the DT right?

Oh ok I can rest easy then.

Living out of state I never realised how much certain sydney 'journo's' had it in for this club.

They are tiny tiny cowardly men and women and I'm glad I've never bought one of their...quite literally...rags.

I posted on here that the Stewart Bros. were talking to the Dragons and got bagged for my comments by quite a few people. Reality is The Dragons have spare cash with not having signed Moltsen and no longer have Boyd on their books.
AND strange how the Bros. have been so quiet in all of this. Talk in league admin circles is that it is down to Dragons and now Dogs based on recent developments as to where Brett goes, UK is not a preferred option.

Brett's age and injury problems mean he's getting close to his last contract anyway. So of course his next deal was always going to be about money.
Hope its with us but I'm sure someone with deeper pockets will break our hearts.
He needs an injury free 2012 to get a massive deal out of someone.

Interesting. I wonder if Rothefields 'reliable source' was the same 'source' that was responsible for compiling and submitting the erroneous report to the NRL, following the 09 season launch?

And you have to laugh at Rothfield failing to mention the News LTD payout and subsequent apology to Brett for defaming him. He got back a healthy part of his alleged 350k in legal costs, courtesy of the DT making false allegations and assumptions and printing them as fact.
