Points deduction won’t stop Eels’ title push, say Kieran Foran
April 20, 2016 6:18pm
Paul Crawley The Daily Telegraph

KIERAN Foran refuses to concede Parramatta’s title hopes are dead this year — even if the Eels are docked eight competition points for the salary cap debacle.

And the inspirational Eels captain remains adamant that leaving Manly to join the strife-torn club was “the best thing I have done in my career so far”.

Speculation is rife that Parramatta face a certain competition points deduction in the coming weeks, if not days, with the NRL’s investigation into alleged dodgy third-party payments finally complete.

Parramatta fans and players are now clinging to the hope that the sanctions won’t rule them out of at least competing for a top eight kspot this year.

While no one really knows exactly what the final punishment will be, even an eight point deduction would still leave the Eels on two competition points going into Saturday’s clash against the Cowboys in Townsville.

This is not a great article at all, it actually smacks of total disrespect for Rugby League and to the business that is the NRL.

For the captain of a club that has systematically rorted/cheated the system for a number of years to talk up going for a title this year regardless of consequence shows utter disregard for the spirit of the game and fair play.

And make no mistake they are cheating this year 100%, Wantmore's forced retirement and dodgey TPA's, Hoppa's contract debacle, Tim Mannah's dodgey TPA' etc etc.

The NRL need to throw the book at them, they are cheats, they have fabricated paperwork and have proven they will do whatever it takes to win, including breaking the rules.

The only reasonable punishment is:
1. They play for zero points this year.
2. They have to include Wantmore's and Hoppa's contracts in their salary cap for this year as well.
3. They have to include Wantmore's contract for 2017 and 2018 also.
4. They must have their cap reduced for next year by at least $500,000.
(And so they must be forced to shed players as a consequence to fit under the cap.)
5. They pay back the winnings from the nine's.
6. Forme gets presented a wooden spoon by slimey Sterlo live on his rubbish show.

That will do for now.................!!

More trash coming out of the worms..........! A bogus story about Wantmore's injury to try and dodge the cap. We all know this situation would not have arisen if the worms had not been found out. Now they are trying to use Wantmore as a scape goat. The worms are deliberate cheats and are making a joke of the game. They should be forced to pay Wantmore out of their cap....!!

Beau Scott shows little remorse for injury that may end Anthony Watmough's career

Friendly fire is likely to force Anthony Watmough to hang up the boots but Beau Scott made no apologies for his "train hard, play hard" attitude that led to his teammate's potential career-ending knee injury.

It was a challenge from Scott during a training drill gone wrong in the pre-season that is likely to end the former Manly back-rower's career, but Watmough holds no grudges against the new Eels enforcer despite an apparent lack of remorse.

"Beau Scott is Beau Scott, I don't think he has got emotion," Watmough told Fairfax Media. "It was just a freak injury. It was nothing we thought would be this long term. I joked around with Beauy and said 'this is your fault'. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked away."

The incident occurred when most of Parramatta's NRL squad was in New Zealand for the Auckland Nines, while the remaining players were going through a routine training session when Watmough was floored by a challenge from the NSW enforcer.

At the time, Watmough was preparing to play in the following weekend's trial against Penrith, but the collision from behind from Scott while he was trying to shadow a ball across the dead-ball line appears to have cruelled him of the chance to play again. But Scott, renowned for his relentless intensity both at training and on game day, made no apologies for his commitment to the drill.

"It's all just part of it. You have to compete no matter what you're doing, on or off the field," Scott said. "That's all it was. I'm not sure what his outcome is going to be just yet but we'd rather see him on the field every week because we know the sort of player he is. But injuries are part of the game - it's as simple as that. You play hard, train hard, it's as simple as that."

Insurance paperwork has been filed that could allow Watmough to retire and still receive payment for the final three years of his contract, but Watmough says he hasn't given up hope of a miraculous recovery. While he struggled to walk when he eventually got back to his feet after the Scott collision, even he admits he didn't expect the injury suffered at training to be as serious as it was.

"We were chasing a ball down and I hyper-extended my knee, then bone started chipping away," Watmough said. "It was just a freak accident. It was when the boys were playing the Nines. I was pretty sure I was going to be right the next week to play the trial against Penrith. We were playing a game trying to get repeat sets if you put it in goals. I was just trying to shepherd it out and he had to pull up and pushed into me and my knee got caught under me. He just pushed me in the back and as he has pushed me I've stuck my leg out and its gone straight and done some damage to my knee. I don't know how to explain it. I couldn't walk or run after that. It's been a long time between drinks trying to get out on the field."

Club captain Tim Mannah, who was at the training session, shed light on Scott's intensity at training. The injured prop, who is due back against the Bulldogs in round nine, said Scott trained with the same attitude he takes on the field.

"Beauy, he's a 100 miles an hour," Mannah said. "He's got no second gear. He's either zero or 100. No one realised the seriousness of the injury [to Watmough] at the time. He limped off and we just kept training as we were. It wasn't until he got the scans did we realise how serious it was but at the time we didn't realise."

Sounds like Beau Scott is the Ben Kennedy mentor they were looking for not Wantmore; and it sounds like Beau Scott made sure he was the top Dog at training by smashing his team mates knee, Top Bloke!

Best solution as well as docking 8 points is to play all Parra home games in Brisbane and ban all their supporters from attending games for one years...no lets be hard, 18 months.

but but but how would foz know any of this...according to him no one at parra...including himself, reads the papers nor knows of any news through any medium anywhere in the universe.

At least we accepted that we lost in 2007. Yes we lost to the cheating scum and that does leave a very sour taste because of what might have been, but regardless on the night we were simply outplayed in the GF, especially in the 2nd half. Being handed the premiership 3 years later because of the Storm being stripped of theirs would have been next to meaningless IMO.

That's at least one thing the NRL have got right in the past decade or so, they didn't give the 2007 premiership to us and they didn't give 2009 to the Speels. They just left those years as no premiership winners.

Oh, and that picture with Greenturd and the cheap watch.....definitely from Toad's Dog days. Just look at his club regulation blue and white tie.
**** that, I want that 2007 Premiership on our record!

It may be meaningless to you, but I was there that night and I was spat on by those filthy purple scum fans and to have that premiership back would mean a lot to me.

What a surprise, they have just found a "NEW" injury that complies with the salary cap requirements of retirement.

Have they told him about Choc's injury or are they shielding him from that too?

Foz thinks the best thing he did was to go to Parra because now BA has given him the good word he believes in Santa again. It's already paid off as he found a new car in his driveway last week and it's not part of his Eels contract which is registered with the NRL.
