[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

Have a feeling it might be lol@Manly next Thursday.

I so want us to win but you have to say they are starting to look like a pretty competitive footy side.

Only taken a cap Rort , and 30 years to do so but they've got there!!
Have to admire Foran for choosing to play on his weaker passing side when controlling the right side plays and allowing Norman to play on the left(well from the limited footage i have seen this has been the case)

Parramatta Eels risk losing Brad Arthur and Foran over latest debacle

Parramatta could lose more than just competition points, with the embattled club in danger of losing its coach and captain if it doesn't get its house in order.

Brad Arthur has been a rock for the Eels as the club has lurched from one catastrophe to the next, somehow insulating his team from the constant spot fires sparked by a bumbling board and administration.

Arthur is Parramatta to the core, having grown up in the region, played his junior footy for Seven Hills and always aspired to become involved with the blue and golds. He knocked back a $1 million per season offer to replace Geoff Toovey at Manly at a time when the Eels were reneging on a promised contract extension worth half that amount because of his love for the club.

While the former Melbourne assistant wants to stay put following the latest salary cap dramas, there is a danger he will become worn down if the NRL doesn't clean out the officials holding the club back as part of its probe into dodgy third-party deals. The Eels have a raft of players coming off contract over the next 18 months and the majority want to stay and play for Arthur, but no one can commit with so much uncertainty during the governing body's probe. Recruitment is also an issue. There are only two clubs that North Queensland prop James Tamou will consider joining should he return to Sydney, the Roosters and Parramatta. Unfortunately, the latter may not be in a position to make him an offer pending the NRL's sanctions.

On Friday, officials again hung Arthur out to dry, leaving him to field salary cap questions during his weekly press conference because those responsible for the mess refuse to do so.

Skipper Kieran Foran has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if Arthur does. Which is all the more reason for the club to get itself in order and ensure the coach stays put long term.

Last paragraph is incorrect as Sooky Pants has to stay two seasons before that clause activates 😛

Not sure that we want them to lose the point right before we play them. Beware the shot to pieces bear (eel).

Sporting News expert  Peter Peters told Sky Sports Radio that the rest of the competition is demanding strong and immediate action as the Eels continue to collect competition points using players who are unwittingly caught up in the drama.

“The first 24 points scored by Parramatta against Canberra (on Saturday) were all from their new recruits,” Zorba pointed out.

“Some of these issues are involved with this side that is on the park.

“If that side is on the park (and are) over the salary cap, as has been suggested, then the league has to come up with a penalty sooner rather than later.

“It can’t drag on. It’s not fair to the Parramatta fans, it’s not fair to their players, it’s not fair to the coaching staff.”

Melbourne were stripped of two NRL titles and played the 2010 season for no competition points, while Canterbury had all 37 competition points taken away in 2002 after severe salary cap breaches.

Peters believes the NRL has to come down equally hard on Parramatta.

He said: “It’s a massive, massive issue.

“A lot of people are saying that’s it’s got to be Storm-like, Dogs-like.

“And word coming out of the NRL headquarters is that it will be very, very heavy.

“Parramatta’s joy at the moment could be all awash with one stroke (of the pen) of the NRL.

“You can’t cheat. And if it’s been systematic cheating, which has been suggested, then it’s got to be very strong.

“You can’t keep having Parramatta turn up, the fans getting all excited, and we’re dragging the chain.

“We’re into round six. A decision has to be made this week.”

I reckon they should be given the spoon for every past year they have cheated the cap, it was intentional as they chose not to declare to the NRL that they were still over, despite the NRL continually asking them if they had anything else to declare. That means they should get the spoon for '14 and '15 and then if they are found guilty of rorting it this year they should lose points.

i believe they should be deducted points and then every dollar they have cheated the cap should come off their 2017 cap if they lose 6 players as a result well than thats back to a level playing field to the other clubs
