[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

I've seen too many decent Manly players go across to the sqEels for bigger money, and spend several wasted years watching their careers stagnate and turn to dust.

The only surer thing than a players career dying after they leave Manly.....is a players career dying when they sign with Doesn't-matta.

You have to remember.....this is the same club who signed Choc to a 4 year, $850,000 per year deal when no one else (including his then club - us) wanted to even offer him any more than 2 years. The same club who rorted the salary cap....and STILL won the wooden spoon, twice.

I mean, they have literally just re-signed the reigning wooden spoon halfback (not long after re-signing the reigning wooden spoon coach AND reigning wooden spoon fullback) to a deal worth $2.5m over 3 years. And the only rep team this guy can get anywhere near is Lebanon.

Eels skipper Tim Mannah to join West Tigers immediately

Parramatta club captain Tim Mannah will sensationally leave the Eels as early as Tuesday to sign with Wests Tigers.

It would end a remarkable 11 year career at Parramatta for one of the club’s most respected players.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal negotiations between Mannah, Parramatta and Wests Tigers only started late Monday afternoon.

One source close to Parramatta said: “It has all happened so fast.”

It is understood the Wests Tigers deal — at this point — would only be for the remainder of this season.

Negotiations are expected to conclude Tuesday when the deal will be formally announced by Wests Tigers.

Parramatta recently told Mannah, aged 31, that his future beyond this season was uncertain.

Mannah comes off contract after this year and was expected to leave Australia for the English Super League.

But Wests Tigers entered negotiations late and look to have signed the veteran prop although there is still a possibility talks could fall over late.

Parramatta has two outstanding young props emerging trough the grades to replace Mannah — Oregon Kaufusi and Stefano Utoikamanu.

Mannah’s negotiations were treated respectfully by Parramatta but he was informed he wouldn’t be re-signed for next season.

It was Mannah that sought the release, with the Eels saying they were happy for the prop to see out the season.

The Eels wanted to give Mannah sufficient time to find a new club.

Wests Tigers are understood to be signing Mannah mid-season for a bargain price. It is unknown whether Wests Tigers have plans to sign Mannah for another season in 2020.

Mannah is a former Parramatta skipper who is now club captain. Fullback Clint Gutherson is the current team skipper.

Parramatta fans will be gutted to lose Mannah, a club favourite. He has played his entire NRL club at Parramatta and many thought Mannah would retire a one-club legend.

He has played nearly 250 games for the Eels along with representing City, NSW, Lebanon and the Prime Minister’s XIII.

Mannah debuted for Parramatta against the New Zealand Warriors at Mount Smart Stadium way back in 2009.

The hardworking forward has started a number of games this season from the interchange bench.

Wests Tigers will sign Mannah due to his strong work ethic, his ability to nurture rookies and his professionalism. The Tigers also need front-rowers.

Late last month, Mannah was demoted to reserve grade.

“It’s sad because Tim is so well loved at Parramatta,” said one source. “But this is the reality of rugby league these days.

“Parramatta has some great young props coming through and Wests Tigers also need some front-rowers. As sad as it is, everyone wins.”

Eels lose $30 million in four years, but they have a three year plan.

The Parramatta Eels intend to break even, bring 40,000 members to the club, and re-establish their brand as one of the leading football clubs in the Australian sporting landscape.

The blueprint to do all this is a three-year strategic plan (2019-2021), which has already begun this season and that focuses on eight 'pillars': People and Culture, Football, Commercial, Memberships-Fans, Community, Communications-Media, Facilities-Infrastructure, Finance-Governance.

And while all that might sound like corporate mumbo jumbo, the nitty-gritty is real:

  • 40,000 members by 2021
  • A new $40 million Centre of Excellence within five years (four fields operational by November 1 this year for the 2020 pre-season)
  • Playing in the NRL finals every year
  • Having a Parramatta team in the NRLW as soon as possible (three clubs in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership – Mounties, Wentworthville, Guildford are in the club's catchment area)
  • Becoming the premier development club in the NRL
  • Having an Eels side in the Canterbury Cup (happening in 2020 season)
The Eels just passed the 25,000 membership milestone this week to create a club record.

The federal government has promised $15 million towards the Kellyville Park Centre of Excellence, which will bring the football and administrative offices together under the one roof. The state government is being pursued to match Canberra's $15 million
Eels CEO Bernie Gurr and new chairman Sean McElduff admitted the club hit rock bottom in May 2016, when the NRL revealed salary cap breaches of $3 million over the previous three years.

Since July 2016 the club has rewritten its constitution and governance rules, has elected five independent directors and has become financially stable.

Something had to give since the club, between 2010 and 2016, had five head coaches, six CEOs and 25 directors come in and out of its doors.

But what the fans want to know is, when will the club break even? When will Parramatta add to their four premierships – the last 33 years ago?

"I'd be disappointed if it wasn't 2022," McElduff said on the question of getting back in the black.
McElduff said "the core business of the club is winning football games".

"Of course we want to win premierships but for us it's about putting the right building blocks in place like well-being, roster management, that we know at the start of every year we are a chance of making the top four," McElduff said.

The Eels lost $12 million in 2016, $10 million in 2017, $3.9 million in 2018 and the forecast for 2019 is between $4-4.5 million.

"Clearly are target is to break even; be sustainable. It's ludicrous to think we're happy losing $4 million a year," Gurr said. "We will get there and we need to get there."

F### off Parramatta!
Seriously can this thread be deleted? Lets just take Jacinta Arderns approach like on that terrorist prick, they shall rename nameless! 0 acknowledgement they even exist.

Ps: this might be a bit harsh but I hate wasting my time reading about Parramatta's long term plan for success on a manly forum!

I thought all this sounded familiar... they’d better get a wriggle on getting those 2 premierships by 2020...

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have this week unveiled their 2020 vision, built around the single-minded purpose of growing and sustaining success of the Parramatta Eels.

Speaking at the inaugural State of the Club event on Wednesday night at the Parramatta Leagues Club, Eels CEO Scott Seward outlined the bold vision for the club over the coming six years.

The Eels 2020 vision covers all areas of the business, with goals to:

· Compete in the NRL finals series every year, and bring home the club’s fifth and sixth Premierships between now and 2020

· Turn a current financial loss into a $1 million profit by 2020

· Attract and retain commercial partners who will drive innovative and mutually beneficial relationships

· Build a highly engaged base of 50,000 Members

· Establish the Parramatta Eels rugby league club as a community leader underpinned by our values, at home and abroad

· Provide industry-leading training and administration facilities for players, coaches and staff of the club

“This plan recognises that we are in control of our destiny,” Seward said.

“Our vision is to be the best sporting organisation in Australia, where the very best people aspire to deliver excellence, unity and success.”

“To our Members and fans, commercial and community partners we are committed to delivering exceptional customer service at all times.”

Speaking at the Parramatta Leagues Club, Seward did not shy away from the hard facts of the past few years.

“Since 2010 until 2014 the performance of the football side of our business has been one of the worst in Australian sport,” Seward said.

“Despite having one of the largest supporter bases in the NRL and being based in the heart of Western Sydney, the off-field aspects of the club had also fallen behind.”

“Over the past six years the football club lost over $28 million, and in 2012 and 2013 alone our football department had a net loss of over $11.5 million. These types of numbers are not sustainable for any business.”

The implementation of the 2020 Vision began in 2014, and included a comprehensive self-analysis at the club, and a commitment to a set of trademark values for the Parramatta Eels. Our trademarks describe the framework in which directors, staff and players of the Club behave, interact and work together and determine the culture of the Club.

For the Blue and Gold, those values took the form of four trademark behaviours: honesty, unity, progressiveness and ruthlessness which are held in high regard and protected by every member of the on-field and off-field team.

Seward acknowledged the importance the club has to its Members, fans, community, and Western Sydney, as well as the duty the Eels have to those who love the club: from the club’s founders in 1947, to those who are yet to come.

“The transformation of our great club is under way,” Seward said.

“We want to be known as the most professional sporting brand in Australia with a strong commitment to giving back to our community.”

“Rest assured we will be ruthless in our pursuit of success and delivering all elements of the Eels’ 2020 vision.”

“As a club we are extremely excited about our future and we trust our Members and fans will enjoy being part of this journey together.”

Dear oh dear. Just how much taxpayers dollars need to be thrown at that rabble of perennial losers? It's borderline criminal.

Seward just obtained a copy of Guss's five-year plan for the Riff's world domination and changed the word Penrith to Parramatta.
