Parra is a dysfunctional organisation and more of a basket case then we have ever been. But you don't hear Greenberg or his press cronies like Hooper putting the boot into them and that's because relocation for them is not on the agenda and the NRL desperately want them to win more fans in the west. I expect that the decision to resign Arthur was a desperate move in a bid to retain Gutho & Moses. Don't be surprised if the NRL are trying to lend Parra a helping hand in keeping them.

Totally agree, the best thing to happen to Parra was the Wanderers and the Giants. The NRL in its usual reactionary mode has thrown everything at Parra to get them sorted and comfy.

They've just had 300 million spent on a state-of-the-art stadium, that's unique , new and modern.

Now, just this past week, they've had 40 million more promised for a Centre of Excellence.

All this, and the club hasn't outlayed $1. Also, they just got it done. No talk. No stalling for years. Just in and done.

In my opinion...

Pretty much the only reason is because Parramatta is being transformed as a Western Sydney CBD. It helps that Western Sydney electorates are generally swinging seats so governments will throw a lot of money at it because it is politically advantageous to do so.

Compare that to the Northern Beaches, they have been safe seats for 50+ years so stalling over an upgraded stadium is not a huge concern. Throwing a sh*te load of money at a socioeconomically well off area is also not a great vote winner for the rest of the city/state.

Parramatta have won nothing in 33 years and the Wanderers have yet to win a title in Australia. Their only credentials for having a brand new stadium built essentially just for them... is because they are based in Parramatta.

It seems Parramatta were bidding against themselves for Clint Gutherson. I’ve been told that Manly pulled the pin on their offer for him on Wednesday night. Gutherson signed a three-year deal the following day.

Manly have to prioritise signing Jake and Tom Trbojevic, and that is going to cost them plenty. They still have Daly Cherry-Evans, Marty Taupau and Dylan Walkeron great money. The Eagles didn’t want to jeopardise their war chest by spending too much on Gutherson.
