THEY were stripped of the title due to salary cap rorts but coach Brad Arthur has declared Parramatta will head to the Auckland Nines this weekend as defending champions.

Arthur said the Eels still considered themselves titleholders of the Nines, even though the record books proclaim they had their 2016 crown taken away for cheating the salary cap.

“We don’t feel like it was taken off us,” Arthur told The Daily Telegraph.

“You can’t take away the games that were played, you can’t take away the feelings and the excitement of when it all happened. That still lives with us.

“As far as we are concerned we followed the rules the same as everyone else with selection and we are doing the same again this year.


So Brad, you're a dumb **** as well as a ****.

Arthur has also retroactively named himself coach of the 2009 Eels who he then declared were the real premiers* of that year, thereby ending Parramatta's premiership drought which was now into it's second century**.

*Note: Arthur has created what is known as "Arthur's Rule", whereby you acknowledge cheating if you are on the losing side of it, but not when it benefits your side.

** Say "technically" as you do the inverted comma thing with your fingers
 
The Dalai has learned well from his time as Drizzle assistant coach, a club like the worms guilty of breaching the cap and then sending a big middle finger to the rest of us after they got caught.

Parramatta have shown yet again that they are a club who just doesnt get it and never will. What we see from them is that they will do what it takes to cheat their way to winning.

News for you Dalai!! Your lot are heading for a big fall!!

The nrl should take note that their penalty was obviously not sufficient and will not act as a deterrent if this is Arthur's view!
 
Hey, there's nothing wrong with Brad Arthur expressing his opinion.

It's his opinion that's wrong.

I believe Manly are champions all the time. I also believe Parra are ****. My opinion is right.

Totally agree, and maybe if the nrl had penalised them sufficiently they may feel a little remorse. Instead the are mollycoddled because the nrl stupidly think that is how the battle for the west is going to be won
 
Wonder what happened with Choc and his insurance claim? Just kind of died off. Would love for that to kick back up again so we can lol about the Choc/Eels marriage once more...

NSW Police arrested the 42-year-old in Leichhardt on Monday and charged him with knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, dishonestly obtaining property by deception, and acting with intent to pervert the course of justice.

Irvine appeared at Newtown Local Court on Monday and was granted bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

The salary cap scandal reportedly involved merchandise sales and inflated invoices being used to honour under-the-table payments to the NRL club's players.

I don't recall that anyone from the storm of dogs went to jail over their salary cap rorting

Parra's rorting appears to be on a much more serious scale and it is a farce that they were only docked 12 points.

They should have lost every point

The player managers will be next in line for disqualification
