Kobe Hetherington

If Hetherington is the answer then it is a pretty sh*t question I reckon…
Apart from the possibility that Tent could play a full season (low possibility but a possibility none the less), I genuinely have no hope that next season is an improvement for us…

Kobe is not being signed as THE answer.

He is a bench/possible starter and will improve our 17.

He is not a marquee but nor has he be signed as one.

Also....love how reactionary people get after a game.
Point is that he is not an improvement… if the reports are true and his contract is “lucrative” then we are truly cooked as a club…

And this is not a reaction to a single game, if you asked me to pick my top 5 forwards to sign from the broncos, Kobe would not be on my sheet of paper…

Kinda comes across like you’d have many blank sheets of paper mate? Is there actually anyone you do consider a good fit for Manly 😂….

I’ll say this for Kobe, he is well under 30 and goes alright with the potential to go great. No disrespect but our most reason signings have been Nathan Brown and Matt Lodge, both can turn it on for a couple of games but we need players for 26 rounds now.

Agree that he's not being signed as the answer, but he was still poor in defence today. That's not reactionary, just an observation. I think he's a decent signing but he was still shown up today, regardless.

We need a decent prop for a start… Tent is good but massively injury prone…
Our next best is not gonna get us to finals… we just freed up Chez’s contract and we go offer a sh*t-tonne of money to Fogarty and Hetherington instead of tartgetting a prop forward and/or decent hooker…
Ideally we would have had a crack at Terrell May when he was available but we didn’t… my next option would be to go all-in for Tino or, failing that, they could have targeted Josh Kerr who was massive for Phins this year and has just signed with dragoons or even Shia Wong from the rorters… Jayden Brailey or Reed Mahoney would have been improvements at hooker…
We will not be competitive while ever we have a bunch of good backs but no momentum gaining forwards… we have Tent and Guac (and Bully and Burbo are decent bench forwards) but the rest are old men or broken… We have zero creativity at dummy half and Hetherington does not improve any of that…

Agree.

I'm all for people discussing a performance, thats not reactionary its some writing off a signing based on a game.

I think he'll go alright with us but wont in himself be the one to move the needle.

Fogarty coming for money only, Hetherington coming for the Mrs new job. Yeah not really encouraging reasons that they want to play at Manly.

We are beginning to look like Gold Coast in Sydney.
The club where players come to retire for the $$ only or that no other club will sign them.

The only positives about the signings if Fogarty and Hetherington is both players are playing for a team that finished in the top 4 this year. So recruitment has finally started to buy from top teams and not from the bottom teams, ex Tigers. 🤭

Certainly hope that Kobe Hetherington 's contract is not in the 600 K range or no where near it .
Had the initial impression and probably like many others that essentially a like for like for Jazz and in the similar contract bracket , maybe around the 300 K mark but if double this and even allowing for that 20 % club cap allocation increase , just seems to be putting the club behind the 8 ball in terms of any increased pack improvement in a serious way for next season and ongoing
Bad enough to have Jake on 1 . 2 mil in 26 ,and still that 200 K ongoing payment to Shu
Only saw the closing stages of the Raiders - Broncs final but looks fairly apparent here from comments that Kobe 's game left a bit to be desired at a more intense final"s level
And a 4 year contract ? Hopefully can be a better outcome playing availability then Aloiai who was on similar money but he had some very decent impact when fit and well and not sure Kobe can provide that to the same degree if on similar money
Again , have not a bad prop grouping already in Paseka , T K O , Bully , Jake and some promising juniors , even Lodge probably going around again
So injury free , the makings of a competitive forward line up prior to the Hetherington signing and at 600 K , jezz , a bit of doubt there for a prudent signing

I watched him closely , he had one bad miss , which did lead to a try , otherwise he went pretty well.

So I think the “ poor in defence “ is better put “ one very bad defensive lapse”.

He had 4 missed tackles , but that was pretty average for all their forwards 3-5 being the average.

He was never signed as a superstar

Agree. Also made a try saver on Weekes in the 2nd half. He is a worker. Without Jake and Croker we need this.

Yeah, Classic example, Nate Myles.
Bought to keep Cherry company being a Qlder and all. $500k for this lug and couldn't wait to meet up with his Qld mates in Melb. Jeez, I hope we got some good learnings from this blunder, here's hoping that those days are done.

From FOX Sports…..

Manly Sea Eagles
We have all heard the talk about Manly being in salary cap strife, but with Daly Cherry-Evans leaving the club at the end of this year, and the Trbojevic brothers - Jake and Tom that is - set to take a pay cut if staying at the club at all for 2027 and beyond, there is suddenly money available.

The Sea Ealges have been rumoured to be interested in Haas before, but now could look at making a full scale tilt at the prop if things work out as expected on the salary cap front in the coming weeks.

The bottom line is, while Manly have Taniela Paseka to lead the engine room, there isn't a great deal else, and a player like Haas could shake the very foundations of the Sea Eagles.

Watch this space.
I thought today was the 15th of September not the 1st of April

Also we have no idea what his "role" will be with us.
