A player with more class scores at least one try from those kicks. He almost singlehandly lost us the match. Needs a lot of work IMO. Can come good like several other Manly players have this year. But to keep Parker out, needs to lift!

Not having seen Parker, I can't comment on that. Personally feel he has done enough for a young centre in his debut season. Might not be the fastest bloke around, but as others have said, has good acceleration and footwork. Can only see him improve.

Kelly was bad today (although had glimpses of greatness!! Eg. His involvement in his Try) although you can excuse that to the manly mentality on the day. We were poor mentally and it's hard for those lacking experience to get out of that mindset. Also the conditions come into play, definitely the future centre for us though, no need to worry about that

Will improve as he gets more experienced in defence but his attack and footwork and acceleration is all there, he will play 200+ games for manly.

When we talk about how great a talent someone is we not only evaluate their + strengths we also evaluate their - weaknesses and the overall equation is the cost they bring to the team

I call it as I see it

Yes he has talent . Yes so did players like TRex . But TRex was not consistent and that is why he ended where he is today in the sharks NSW cup side

Trex is where he is because he lacks heart, attitude and consistency.

Kelly has heart and attitude, and I assume is working hard on being consistently excellent.

There is a huge difference between the two players.

I agree with you when you say Kelly needs to be working hard on being consistently excellent .
Just like you I want all Manly players to succeed and the good players do their talking on the field . They don't rely on their fans to write up stuff on forums to make them look good .
Over to you Kelly . I hope you have a blinder against the Panthers. We need all players to excel so we can keep our top 4 spot

Reminds me of the early days of Steve M - not for his style of play but the lack of consistency when they come into first grade. The amount of people calling for his head in those days....

What amazes me is how so many supporters expect players to perform as soon as they in first grade. How many players do that? I would suggest they are the execption rather than the rule

We saw it with Api where he is getting better the more he plays in first grade (really only in his 3rd year of first grade Grand Final win apart?)

Is he going to be a world beater? I am not sure. What I am sure of is that first grade NRL is an incredibly tough game which takes years, not games, to develop

Kelly had a mixed game and made a few vital drops....the best youngsters have these days, drops, defensive lapses ect
It takes game time to overcome these through learning and experience....you wouldn't eat a cake before it comes out the oven because its not the finished product- just like this kid....will be around a long time so will have to live with these days and improve from them.
Has proven he is the real deal imo and another thing I do like - finds the game after making error, unlike others, who shy away and find a hole when it's not going their way.

Give Brian more time, he is only in his first season & has been solid most matches.

I have noticed that the 2 games ( Knights & Warriors ) where he was average were in the wet, did he come from a town that was in drought !!

He might be young and still learning, but in today's game you can't afford too many off days like yesterday. I'd expect the Panthers to run set plays to isolate him in defence. If you've got a weakness, you don't get a lot of time to get it right in first grade.

All good mate, just stating obvious had not been Stevie the kid would be in nsw cup developing. I got no doubt he a season too early for nrl.

It would be a steep learning curve for Brian Kelly in a new system and in 1st grade, especially playing in the centres. He did enough to make the team at the start of the year and he will learn from any mistakes and improve. I would persist with him for sure.

Yesterday he expected to jump to his feet for a quick play the ball - slipped on the wet track😎

He expected the ball to bounce up from Chez kick - dead cat bounce on soggy ground 😎

Kels is a quick learner and the video session will show him the bleeding obvious
