Why should religious beliefs be given as much respect as someone’s sexuality?

Is it not clear that religious belief that doesn’t accept homosexuals as equal human beings is an extremely outdated attitude?

Why should people maintaining these beliefs be respected?

Couldn't give a rats about either a person's sexuality or religion. Both are private individual matters. Just don't expect people to be advocates or billboards to promote these topics.

Probably met in a Youth hostel but i also digress . Not sure about your possible travels but always used to be [ youth hostel insignia ] a welcoming sight anywhere in my back packing days . Yep, stayed in a few over the years. But best one was in Port Hedland in 85. It was an old house with matresses on pool tables, and a room set aside for females only. The owner was a little eccentric (to the say least) and the pub nightlife just a little scary. But I did meet my wife on the backpack trip and last night we cooked dinner together. Happy days.

Not too sure if stereotyping is all that relevant with any perceived left - right positions or outlook in many instances . Despots , dictators , good and not so good leaders and ideology and not always with that much difference or variation in extreme or polarising positions Particularly when it relates to freedom of expression and set liberties . Looking for a digressing topic or phone a friend to continue , not sure where i am going with this

I think it's a valid discussion coz a lot people I hear/read throwing the old left/right label around, are simply using it as a tool to try and shut down a conversation they don't like. And where are you going with that? Probably trouble.

Go along with the outdated beliefs reference and total respect to you for trying to get some good reaoning into the matter but are you also differentiating between discriminating or not accepting someone else "s sexuality . Not accepting is not necessarily the same as discriminating . Anyway maybe you were differentiating .

Given we're a flightless species, I think we need to move away from left wing right wing to left leg right leg. But wait, that might cause more probs for the modern day footy player that like to say "I just gotta go out and put my best foot forward". There'd be more accusations of politics in sport - "well, is it his left foot or his right foot? What leg is he/she advocating for, damn it?" Then of course, if you're considered centre left or centre right, that brings in the middle leg and before you know it we've got name calling (think poor old Jurbo) and that could lead to Rolf Harris taunts and ohhhhhhhhhhhh, what have I done?? Bugger, let's just stick with left wing right wing - to hell with nuance.
