I tell you what if Manly does snare him he would be a great addition up front for he would add some starch in the forwards. Great right arm fend and would be even more lethal if he could learn how to off load with the left rather than just rely on the fend for which I am sure all clubs try to prepare for. This would keep the opposition guessing.

More likely an impact player off the bench. As mentioned earlier in the forum could be his manager trying to get a better deal and Rothfield spinning BS as usual.

With all the speculation surrounding Bird and every other player on the market during the year, I, like many others on this forum, will believe it when and if it comes to fruition.

Impact player off the bench???
Starting lock for mine. This guy need to be in the action from kick off.
If we pull this off this will be massive for us. I think Kapow has the potential to have as much impact as SBW and S Burgess. Just damaging!

Agree to disagree, most impact players tend to come off the bench unless he can improve on his fitness and last longer, remembering the rules have changed for next year where the interchange has decreased requiring more minutes from the starting forwards. Taupau can go missing at times whether this is due to fitness I don't know. Either way a great coup for Manly if true.

Fair comment as well, could just be his manager talking up his price!!
Yes Mark, and there are plenty of recent examples.

The trend has been that pretender players who could never hack it at Manly throw them in the mix to stir things up and get a bigger price, they never end up going to Manly in the end of course. They know they could never play under the day-to-day scrutiny and extreme expectations that would be put on them.

The true potential heroes to join the club don't bull**** around, they come to Manly because they want to play for the club and often thrive as a result.

T-POW! would be great for the club, let' see if he has the guts to sign.

He is one of a number of players unhappy about the treatment of club legend Robbie Farah.

There has also been speculation Taupau would attempt to do a Jarryd Hayne and try to make it in the NFL. But we’re told NRL is still his preferred option.

His departure will put further pressure on embattled coach Jason Taylor who will struggle to convince a player who doesn’t want to be there to stay.

There is talk of a swap deal between the Tigers and the Sea Eagles involving veteran hooker Matt Ballin. The 31-year-old hooker has two years left at Brookvale but has been granted permission to look elsewhere.

After missing the finals last year, the Sea Eagles are rated a $15 chance in the first betting market issued by the TAB for 2016.

The price would shorten to around $12 if Taupau signs. The Wests Tigers are a $34 chance.
Remi....I think I love you...come to Manly KAPOW!

Interesting he's **** hot on the concept2 row machine over 500M which is the beefcake/all muscle no cardio distance. Be interested to see if he could go sub 17 on the 5k. I'd say no.

He is another TRex, so much promise but usually disappoints.

Maybe he can improve in a Manly jersey.

if he is played in the right way i.e. off the bench as impact then he will be good. T rex was his best and played for Aus when he played off the bench then for some strange reason Des thought playing him 80 minutes would help.

looking at this year Taupau averaged over 100m per game at about 10m per run. A good average per run is 8+. No problem with that effort. He is also a good balance with our 80 minute backrowers in Buhrer, Brown, Mateo, Leary, Symonds.

Wests Tigers are dealing with a fresh crisis after reports strike forward Martin Taupau is on the verge of signing with Manly.
Still reeling from the news their skipper Robbie Farah is unwanted for next year, Tigers fans have further reason to vent their anger following Phil Rothfield’s revelations that the Kiwi sledge hammer is halfway out the door.

Taupau has a year to run on his existing deal but is reportedly disillsioned with the direction the Tigers are taking and wants to leave.

The Tigers will have to grant the man they call ‘Kapow’ a release if he’s to leave early.

The Sea Eagles loom as the leading contenders to snatch the New Zealand international should he be freed.’

Manly have been clearing decks since missing the finals for the first time in 11 years and have enough money to sign Taupau.

The prospect of losing the strongest man in the NRL has not gone down well with Tigers fans, who have new CEO Justin Pascoe firmly in their sights.

Gotta love Sportal. For months the Lurker has been saying we have no money left now we release JSL and we're cashed up. What did the old board sign him for - 3 years $5m or something???
