A good defensive coach can overcome defensive issues.. But no one can overcome a lack of talent. If he has the talent that is foremost in getting him to the club. The rest is fixable. Thing is, if he is a turkey, he'll be OK for back up for 2 years. But he could just turn Manly around. Worth the risk I say

If Elgey can stay injury free, he’s a great signing. He’ll take pressure off Chez, no doubt. Not just a running half, either. Considering our cap situation, it’s money well spent. Sure, his defence needs work. But join the club, nobody at Manly can defend!

Egley has been kept in RG by other RGers after being a FG half for 4 years?
Just about every decision made in the last 3+ years have been a disaster.
I like a lot of our roster and have backed them all the time..
I don't like what the front office has done in that time.
I don't agree with signing Barrett, Egley and Hodko, persevering with Croker etc.
How many times has my dislike of a decision turned out to be unfounded? Umm.
Most here make a valuable contribution in their own way, mine I hope is through my experience with playing and coaching the game, a little bit to do with the club itself and being a season ticket member for over 15 years.
Sorry, I don't do fluff or agree with what is widely known to be a basket case admin.
Maybe you are just the ultimate club guy, churning out the fluff when our great club is suffering in mediocrity and you're happy... even in our seemingly assured demise.
If you don't like my contributions, don't read them, as I generally don't yours.. No problem.

Horrific signing.
I agree and is only 24 and is a good goal kicker. There are question marks re his defence however Blake Green was awful in this regard as is Maloney, Thurston, Lockyer the list goes on. You do not recruit a half for their defence.
