Juniors Discussion Thread

Hey everyone
trying to help a friend
But are manly having jersey flegg trials and is there way to get a trial run?
Anyone got any tips?
Best thing would be to call the club and ask the process first but suggest he gets a resume and/or video ready to present to the pathways team member

I am sure they have open trials at some stage, however, yes, just contact the club and they'll provide more info

few clubs have open trials, Warriors and knights have openly advertised, alot of other clubs are invite only, so not sure how to get a invite, ive contacted few player managers most reluctant to help.

@taj Manly use to be invite only a few years ago - not sure now what happens. Try sending a message on Facebook to below

Current SG Ball captain and prop Campbell Munn has signed a two-year deal with Canberra starting next year. Real shame, as he’s risen quickly through the grades — captaining Harold Matts in 2023, winning the SG Ball Players’ Player award earlier this year, then going on to play Jersey Flegg and even 2 games of NSW Cup at just 18/19 years of age. Canberra continue their strong poaching raid of junior clubs. Hard to believe Manly couldn’t have offered him a development deal or at least a train-and-trial spot for next year…

This is what happens when you resign old depth plodders like Lodge and Brown, and block young players paths to first grade... FFS.

E.g. Why are Jazz Tevaga and Schoupp playing over Mia and Laiafi? There is literally no logic to it!

Canberra shouldn't have a better path to first grade, as they already have a high quality pack, that would be hard to break into. However, because they don't extend players like Papalii for a million years, on a million dollars, they don't end up in this situation.
