I agree and that is definitely the question……be ok as depth only, but as someone else said, surely theres no way his agreed to come here as a depth signing.

Is Seibs thinking 14? because there’s no way you start Bird over Ben (that would just waste an interchange) secondly who spells or replaces Simpkins?

Lets assume a front row of Tent, Moale starting, Bully TKO rotation - preferably, maybe it’s Lodge if exercises his option, sad we have jacked our top 30 early.

Starting SR Quac, Ben (yep Bird provides cover he can also uninspiringly provide cover for the halves, five eight, Brookes plays 7, if Fog goes down)

Starting Lock? Probably should be Kobe, his just won a GF, but let’s say Jake for his middle D early.

Now the bench?

14 Is this Bird and if so who fills in for DH? (This is a long shot, Turbo into 6, Koula to FB, Bird to centre and yep Brooksie fills in if he has too, can’t see many other options, Lehi perhaps shifts to 6 in a swap with Bird, given Lehi is playing from the centres, if not Tolu moves out to the wing to accommodate Bird as centre cover, so Brooks moves into DH. This is where Lucas would make a good 14.

15 If Jake starts you have to say Kobe, which seems crazy signing him to start from the bench, but that’s been his game for most of last year, excluding the early season swap. In any case it should only be for a year then Kobe will start and Navale will move to 15, I would imagine.

16 Bully

17 TKO or Lodge.

I’m all for offloading Brown, should never of been given anything other than a year by year proposition to begin with, questionable signing in any case.

If the reason is to accomodate Moale in 26 and add Bird for edge depth, ok, but only if it’s about that transition.

Its so Manly to sign these old guys, I don’t care if Seibs has successfully recycled a couple, it’s the wrong approach, no need to say where’s the upside, how about unearthing a couple of youngsters.

Your not going to win anything recycling from the depths, our recent recruitment has been embarrassing , (ex TKO, Fog, Kobe and Moale) so ok it’s improving, Bird though, come on that’s going backwards unless its as mention earlier.

Why can’t we unearth some young talent, not 18, 19 year old that have never played grade, I’m thinking more like 22, 23 year olds on the verge of breaking into grade, that offer upside and a future, surely there out there. Players like Lecka, Piakura, Simi, Nicholson, Mooney, before they become what they are today, so that when they do we get the upside.

Look at some of the other clubs offering youngsters a go, Weekes, raiders win, Ilongi Parra win, look at Karapani he’ll be a To’o MK 2 perhaps better, if we have to look for or consider cast offs, we should be looking at players like Jesse Arthur’s, Karapani owns his spot now, Arthur will want a starting role, sign Arthur’s to play in our 17 and relegate Saab to depth or let Garrick go and replace him with Arthur, providing its a win on the cap, it has to be about improving the side, the culture, our chances of winning, not recycling the Birds, the Wood’s, Brown’s, Lodges of the game, other clubs already tried, it’s not a recipe for success, why do we think we can build that way, it’s never going to end well.

And if like I just read, Bird is on anywhere near 400 that is insane and the biggest no ever, Melbourne have it right offering players like Tui the minimum 140, Bird should thank his lucky stars to get a start. We’d be better signing Tui $175 and converting Bully into an edge and giving Brown away. Far out we seem to have no idea.

And yes hope is all we have, here’s hoping the group clicks and we can at least play footy in September next year, still think theres plenty of room for improvement, but at least its looking like we haven’t gone backwards in terms of our roster.

Have to think he’d offer more than Bird, he also be a better ball runner, but I’d take Fermor or Lucas first, Bull has played on the edge and he goes better as a middle, his D’s is the question and I wouldn’t want to see him shift out on that basis either, anyways we’ll see what happens next season, Seibs will play it his way.

Bull is a pig, he brings that speed in the middle, we need him there and his versatility is limited.
