How about all the tight arses who post here just stump up the $25 for the tipping comp every season.

I hate tipping comps, but I have always said I will pay more, if needed. Does that make me a tight arse?
Ha. Im the same. Just use the tipping comp as a non-participation donation to the site.
Why not charge all members $2 per week as a subscription fee? This fee allows members to post and reply to posts. You would need 150 fee-paying members to exceed your revenue target. You could still have a premium membership on top of that, and sponsorship tiers as well. The site could remain ad-free, which would be awesome if feasible.
Yep, I treat the Tipping Comp as a donation to keep the website running too @mave, but it also just gives a little fun back by putting your tips in and seeing how you go. I really don't care how I go, it's just a bit of fun. I have never won the tipping comp and I doubt that I ever will, but if I did, it would be donated back to Silvertails to keep it going.
Premium membership is the same too. I don't need it because I have an adblocker, but I buy it each year to help Dan pay for the upkeep of Silvertails. I just turn my adblocker off for Silvertails.

Just seeking from posters in general , maybe some alternative methods of paying a subscription
Stopped using Pay pal some time ago , through which i previously used to pay a yearly premium subscription and not able to come up with another option just yet
Have tried to contact the administration in recent days but either can 't get through or not able to get a response for what ever reason
Anyway , just some helpful advice again if anyone feels inclined

I’m just having a bit of a hiatus from ST, haven’t posted for about 3 weeks now and will probably avoid it in the off season and reappear in the New Year, but I have a few suggestions so will make this one post to let you know.
I think most premium membership posters would be happy to pay more per annum rather than the current , to make it easier you could say “ Premium is payable twice a year “, that would double that income . Not sure if that change alone is enough so here’s two other ideas.
Not many of us are avid footy tippers but perhaps you have three tiers of cost,
$10 , participation fee no prize if you win
$30, if you win the comp you get $50
$50, if you win the comp it’s $100
If a $10 tipper wins it costs you nothing.
This may or may not get more on board.
I also think that you should have 3 levels of membership.
1) zero cost but ability to view , and like , dislike etc the comments, also gives them a chance to view the site first, call it “ basic membership “
2) let’s say $25 per annum and call it “ upgraded membership “ , these members can post but still see advertisements ( would also eliminate trolls ).
3) let’s say $50 per annum , premium as it exists, no advertising.
We all want it to continue so whatever it takes but thee are just a couple of ideas.

Looking at this dispassionately, I think the more you're thinking about charging, the more you have to realistically look at the value the site offers.
Silvertails always used to be the first place I'd look for Manly news. Now it can be days before something that is posted on x, insta, reddit, or FB is even mentioned on ST. Maybe you could offer someone free premium membership just to post news and get discussions started?
Not much you can do about the standard of discussion. There are some really insightful posters here and also a lot of slop - not suggesting, I'm not slop!
Sometimes it just feels like I'm stuck in a pub, well after closing, with three or four old geezers just saying the same thing over and over again.
I don't have answers for you Dan. It's just the nature of the world, especially these days, where there is always something new and shiny coming at us every few days. Perhaps you need to reposition the site to really become the forefront of everything Manly. News, photos, interviews, a podcast, more interaction than just a season long tipping comp?
I dunno. But I do know people will pay a lot if you offer so much that all things Manly are here. The club has offered a great opportunity here because they give us nada. Maybe when Cuzzo is back on his feet you could get him involved.

Doubt Dan can pay people to work on the site (he never did before!!!) but getting a handful of people to undertake specific tasks such as you mentioned in return for free premium (for example) is not a bad idea at all.
One to scour socials and post links or screenshots, one to scour mainstream press and post links or excerpts, one to make up fake rumours (well maybe not that one), one to liaise directly with the club and try to prise actual info out of them, or even set up a Q & A with some players
I reckon there's enough tragics on here to cover stuff like that and as you say it may well completely enliven the site? Well worth considering!
(I won't volunteer tho ... at this stage I'm still counting on my 10 years as an ST mod to get me that Nobel nomination)
