It's scary to think how fast he can really go (a quote from Johns). Just waiting for the ultimate Addo Carr - Saab match up/foot race, surely this has got to happen this season.
given Tbaz and the Dogs i get the feeling there may be some big Manly scores coming the doggies way so a foot race could be on the cards.

Great to have speedy back 3
As long as Parker and Harper can make that 1/2 break and get that pass to the speed guys will be shut the gate try time
Looking forward to how well our wingers go Ruben in his 3rd year and Saab in his 2nd they should way better this year

2nd year syndrome is alive and well with plenty of nrl players.

Garrick is in his 4th year in 2022, but his 2nd year was a shocker. Many punters hear wanting him gone. He turned it around last year thou, big time.

Hopefully Saab will not be one of those 2nd syndrome sufferers.

Does anyone know if Koula was going full throttle for his try against The Raiders?
Saab looked liked he could take him easy and was just strolling it in support. Exciting times regardless.

Yep, Koula was going full throttle, with Saab meandering along in support. Being his first try in Manly colours, you could see the nervous energy in his strides, but a fine try all the same.

Saabs running style somehow allows him to jog at a pace equal or greater than most players top speed. We have seen him run away from multiple speedsters with almost zero effort. It's awesome to watch but the first 30 metres is what creates a break. Saab is a finisher not a starter. Koula has the explosive speed to be a starter. The 2 of them together could be something very special.

How's this for a speedsters try, T Tturbo makes the break through the centres on his 20m line, draws the fullback, passes it to Koula on his shoulder, Koula draws the winger, then passes and sends Saab on a 40m run to the line, untouched of course...

Imagine all the chatter leading up to this very moment if Sebastian Chris of the raiders mowed him down in 30 meters. Would have been the greatest anticlimax in NRL history.

Good to see he lived up to the hype speed wise. Still think Saab would have him over 100 thou. Koula would lead up till about the 50- 60m point before Saab would do a Usain Bolt and smoke him.

It would be nigh on impossible for any member of the human race with 2 arms to record a worse tackling performance of failing 1 out of every 2 attempts.

Therefore I am confident that his 2022 performance cannot be worse. It can only be better.

You lose a lot of speed when running with the ball in your hands. I think a lot of people forget this when comparing speedster when one gets chased down while in the clear.
That’s why it’s super impressive when someone makes a break and pulls away from the cover defence as it’s much harder to run with the ball.
As you said, very exciting times ahead with the players we have

Interesting stat against the panthers round one.
Jason Saab was dominated and rag-dolled out of trouble, finishing with a measly 53 metres from 13 carries. His post contact metres were minus 3.

No wonder they kicked to Saab all night.

Something Saab has to improve is his ability to break a tackle and make post contact metres when running the ball back as every smart team will do the same as the panthers.

We were spoilt with Jorge for so long in doing the hard yards coming off our line.

He is meek, looks great in space, and great in the air. But the rest of his wing play, attack and defence is below average. Needs to muscle up and get his shoulder into things

Jorge would have dropped most of those bombs so it wouldn’t have mattered what sort of metres he might have made. The problem for Saab was caused by our meek pack, who failed to win the ruck. It meant the Panthers had the luxury of kicking high and meeting Saab the second he caught the ball. No winger in the world could combat that... the key is to get some line speed and fatigue the opposition so they kick from their side of halfway, like what we had to do all night.

Yes. Then we were ‘unspoilt’ by Horhay’s generally poor to non-existent aerial work. We’ll never know, but the scoreline could have been even worse with Jorge playing last Thursday.
