I agree to an extent but can't blame people for getting excited about young talent coming through, especially after the club as a whole has had a few lean years. And to be fair to both Gordie and Humphreys neither have really been through all of those steps. Gordie's only played 2 games against poor opposition, didn't 'dominate' but played well enough that most would still like to see him in the 14, and Humphreys' journey has only just started.Excited for Humphreys but lets reign it in a little before we start replacing DCE and Croker.
The kid has yet to play firsts. Let him come in and develop without placing a heap of expectation on him.
I swear the cycle here is
1. Youth player gets a few media mention or plays a good trial.
2. Silvertails frenzy on his potential.
3. Silvertails outrage that his isnt starting.
4. Player starts and doesn't instantly dominate.
5. Silvertails bemoans player for not living up to frenzied expectation.
6. Rinse and repeat 1-5 with new flavour of the month.
These 6 steps have happened in the last 12 months with Gordie and Humphreys
I'd argue Gordie has gone through those steps with Humphreys now step 6.I agree to an extent but can't blame people for getting excited about young talent coming through, especially after the club as a whole has had a few lean years. DCE is about to turn 35 and Croker is still (rightly or wrongly) seen by many as a stopgap solution at hooker where we now have two talented young guys coming through. At some point we will need to consider some change especially if we aren't getting the results
I doubt Jamie will move back to the halves now he has made the transition to 92025

Last time someone made a prediction like that it wasCroker has been a great clubmen but…
2025
9. Humphreys
14. GCKT
He deserves a chance. What an off season hes had. Looks massive. I still think he will make a great 7 once DCE retiresHumphrey's is the next big thing he could easily be starting halfback in alot of teams he has been unlucky with injuries and being behind the great dce.
In my opinion alot more upside then Croker and he will be putting serious pressure on him by the end of the year.
If we don't give him opportunity I think we will lose him to a club who will start him at 9.
Manly should be locking him up for a couple more years asap .
Yeah I hope Siebold agrees, Croker can't be faulted for his efforts but in terms of talent he is second tier.Humphrey's is the next big thing he could easily be starting halfback in alot of teams he has been unlucky with injuries and being behind the great dce.

I'm guessing he has signed a one year contract to back himself for a better deal for 2025He is talented, but let's not overhype the kid.
He was off contract and signed a one year contract to be a back up dummy half with us.
If he was the next big thing,I think he would have signed a more substantial multi year contract to be in the halves elsewhere (particularly as halves are very sought after).
He and Gordy are both off contract next year and whoever does the best will earn an extension to back up/tag team with Croker etc....
Let's not forget that Seibold brought in Arthur last year to be ahead of him as the back up half......
Throwing money at an untried player is what the club seems to be trying to avoid
That is possible.I'm guessing he has signed a one year contract to back himself for a better deal for 2025
Though what you say is very fair, I can assure you Manly have high hopes for him and expect a long career at the club and better still, he is very happy at the club also.Humphrey's is the next big thing he could easily be starting halfback in alot of teams he has been unlucky with injuries and being behind the great dce.

Manly haven't been good previously blooding young halves. There's a couple that come to mind with dce having a mortgage on the position there hasn't been a heap of opportunity over the years. I think Humphrey's is holding out to prove himself this year more so then manly offering him a 1 year deal and prove yourself I guess we will wait and see by mid year I suspect there will be alot of interest in him hopefully we can find a spot for him and he can been in the manly jersey for a long time. That is possible.
But if Jamie and his manager thought that he was the next big thing in the halves or that was where his future lay,or there were decent offers,I doubt he would have a signed a one year contract to be a back up 9.
There are probably a few factors in why the one year contract, past injuries have slowed his development without a doubt,a new career at 9 last year and so both he and the club want to see him develop his game and see how it goes.
I sort of doubt that there were a lot of bigger offers on the table though, maybe slightly better than what he signed for but not significantly larger.
Are you talking about him as a half or dummy half?Manly haven't been good previously blooding young halves. At first I was scratching my head a bit with the club's decision to move him to 9 as I always thought he was the heir to DCE. But with Brooks' and Arthurs' signings, and the need for an experienced playmaker far sooner than when Jamie will be considered NRL-experienced, this could turn out to be an astute move. Are you talking about him as a half or dummy half?
The club has already said his future is as a 9 and he is ok with that.
I doubt they would be playing him at 9 for 2 years and then asking him to switch back to 7....
I am not convinced it is a hold out,I think it is just mutual,he has had injuries and a positional switch and he might not have wanted to commit to a 2 year contract, who knows?
It may be a Burbo situation,he signs for a year and then shows his stuff and extends for 3 years,I don't think people should panic that he needs to be extended now or he will go.
