Jamie Humphreys

Glad for Humphries that he got a shot and played well.

The Souths game was totally different than yesterday in terms of the players Manly had available and the weather conditions. So, for those thinking that he would have replicated that performance yesterday against Souths, i would be cautious.

Realistically DCE probably plays on for two more years so I'm not sure what Manly could have done to throw Humphries a carrot. The guy is 23 after all and not 18.

Sadly, Jake Arthur is in the verge of signing with another club guys (unless he has already and it hasn't been announced). In fact, he's been negotiating for some time (prior to his injury)
This concerns me from.a depth perspective in 2025.

Not sure either are DCE replacements but losing both would be no good for the squad to lose both.

He was agitating for a release earlier this season, because he wants first grade footy. I personally (again) think that's at lock. Lawton in the backrow being more agile and mobile has shown how differently we look with speed in the forwards this season (but he's gone) - both in attack & defense (and more evident when Brown plays lock than Jake).

Quite a few clubs were scouting Arthur earlier this season. He was very close to signing with a few. Maybe this broken foot has put a few spanners in the works, but I think he may be done.

Bugger. No star but good for depth. Club must be putting their faith in bunting who has been solid up against men in NSW Cup. There is also the young fella signed from union.

Walsh. If we are calling for Bunting and Walsh, then we are basically calling for Mullane and Ferris to be our next halves

I find it interesting why you dismiss some so quick and laud others.

Bunting and Walsh have both had more decorated junior careers than Humphrey's.

Now I've not seen Walsh live but always been impressed with Bunting when I've seen him.

Was very highly rated out of Penrith.

It's all over instagram on many different accounts today! Looks like rabits wanting us manly fans to know where he is going now after his game display yesterday!

I thought he was promising in a solid debut.

Hopefully he has secured some form of security with that contract and considering the last of a no 7 at the bunnies / cook leaving there appears to be some sort of path to first grade for him

Looks like they will he playing him at 9 as they have a halfback coming from super league next year but I'm sure they will use jamie for both positions at different times. No doubt he went cause he knew he would be coached by Bennet plus probably promised first grade portion. Conversation should of been had by Seibs with him of his plans for Jamie moving forward and also try to get cliffs to coach him for the halves. Done now though!

My Step Brother knows the Chooks lower grades VERY intimately. Think a Chooks version of @Smokin Joe (possibly even more obsessed). I'll take his word on Joey Walsh.

For the record, I also add very little value to the quality of Rugby Union players. Consider this - Tom Wright is one of their best players. Remember him? Couldn't crack first grade here basically. Their top line internationals are dumping them to have a shot with the Titans and Chooks (who knows if they'll even make their top 17).

I saw this signing as nothing but PR spin, made to deflect the ineptitude of our recruitment and retention. That's my take - it may be very right, or very wrong, but it's mine.

If Walsh is our succession plan (or Bunting), I honestly hope DCE plays until he's 50. They won't be in Humphrey's shadow. Dumb, DUMB recruiting. And I was calling for his re-signing a year ago.

Both made junior Blues camps in Rugby League though.

I see more upside in Bunting than Humphries personally but that is not to say he is a sure thing either.

My prediction, Humphreys doesnt get 20 first grade starts in the duration of his Bunnies deal.
