Jamie Humphreys

I think his debut was better than solid. I watched him play for Blacktown last week and he was ordinary. I guess it goes to show that halfbacks are at the mercy of their pack.

He did a wonderful job when ball playing today, by straightening before passing. There was no sideways stuff from him. I was very impressed by his performance today.

I just wanna wish him well and say he played an honest first game when Manly needed it
At south's next season I wish him well but don't give a rats
We have options better than most think in the next few years and can't keep them all...only decision I was dirty on is should have played against South's but that's gone and just gunna get behind this team on the road home - we have as good a shot as most in this Competition

Seibold deserves to be sacked for letting this guy slip through

His very good debut aside, he is currently behind both Brooks and DCE in the halves, perhaps Arthur (who is out injured) as well, and at hooker we have Croker and Simpkin. DCE may extend his contract again as well.

It is unfair to expect JH to wait around for a few more years to get a shot if he believes he can or will get a better one sooner at another club.

Seibold and Sheikheagle certainly did.

Souths were ordinary against us, but the non selection of a halfback certainly was a poor choice that pretty much gave us little hope of winning.
Brooks composure today compared to the game vs Souths was very different as against Souths he tried to do everything, unsuccessfully. Having Humphreys with his chrisp passing and halfback experience helped Brooks today play his more natural game.
We didn't have Turbo against South's so I can understand that Seibs may have been looking for experience instead of a debut player, but he corrected his mistake today

Thought he had a good game, solid enough in defence, though you can’t keep them all and with two back up halves in Walsh and Arthur the future is there.

A fine debut that the coaches have done well with developing him.

Yeah what a dud, this Humphreys kid.

Glad he’s leaving.

Oh wait…😉

He scored a try, had a hand in several others and knows when to pass. Strong defender. Kicks goals. Kicks tactically. Good dummy half. Local junior.

Could have done with some of that form, vs Souths, a few rounds ago.

I like Jake Arthur. However there is no guarantee he will hang around forever, awaiting his turn. He may wish to rejoin his father at some point.

Sadly, Jake Arthur is in the verge of signing with another club guys (unless he has already and it hasn't been announced). In fact, he's been negotiating for some time (prior to his injury)

No big surprise there. Where, SGI?

If so, another classic Sea Eagles’ management ‘shooting themselves in the foot moment’, noting Humphreys’ departure.

Meanwhile, what is the DCE transition strategy? Or will it be another ‘Cliff Lyons’ moment’, i.e. no obvious replacement?

Jamie should be our next half. Played wonderful today and defence was drfinitely great and first grade level
He played really well I thought. Solid in all aspects, well done Jamie.
But if he stayed at Manly he wouldn't get a chance at first grade until he was at least 24, so I don't blame him at all for deciding not to wait that long (and also don't blame Manly for not spending big to keep him as a reserve).

What if DCE suffered a career ending injury, come Wednesday night?

What is your plan?

One of the things that impressed me most was how decisive he was in whatever he did. Even when he miscued once and ran on the last tackle, he made some decent metres.

Drown your sorrows?
Lol I'll be OK. As for if DCE breaks down, we've still got Jamie as a solid back-up for this year and plenty of time to fix up the young Arthur kid for a run next year.
Lehi could probably develop into a half too, the way he's going!
Just kidding, although when I think of it, I think Jahrome Hughes and also Nicho Hynes began in first grade as fullbacks...!

I think you missed the memo, Arthur is most likely (unless something changes) gone. So what's your next option?

Don't get me wrong, Croker was an international half coming through, so we have that.

As per Maxta's post I was/am more dirty on him not being given a shot vs Souths. He played well and good luck to the young man. He may get more of a shot in FG at Souths and reports are their new halfback (Dodds) has been dropped to reserve grade. I would imagine DCE playing on for a couple of more years was as big a factor in his decision to leave..

Top shelf debut and really blended in well with the set plays , helped considerably having a fairly dominant overall Manly effort and a Knights outfit on the lack luster side but more then showed he can compete at a top level .
Probably more money on offer at Souths apart from opportunity , which would be quite understandable taking into account Manly "s already fairly well renumerated back line grouping and Lehi is inevitably going to have to be upgraded .
On yesterday 's performance , Jamie would have to have a bit of an upside over Jacob Arthur [ but who i think is more suited as a 6 ]
Bit of an ongoing saga [ well in a limited way ] whether Jamie could be more suited as a 7 or 9 and after yesterday 's indication , no doubt as a 7 .
Really impressive again and a good start but will be interesting how he may go against more competitive opposition,
