Jamal Fogarty

So he's "gutted" to be leaving Canberra but it's purely a business decision. So he's not chosen Manly because he wants to play here and he's coming for the money only. Yep as I said a few weeks ago this will be a waste of money. We won't be getting his committed best and it'll be more of the same results. We could've saved half that money for a young half and spent it on a decent #8 or #9 or #12 , #13.
Jamal will give 100% for us when he gets here. But not before he gives Canberra 100% this year. He is a good signing mate. You'll see.

Which young half who would take $350K is a proven first grader? (But if you want to say why did we not keep Jamie Humphreys, and before him Cade Cust - I would agree, we shot ourselves in both feet with lousy retention decisions).

That's basically what DCE was on.. 1 player..yes a good player but not worth 2 spots..
He's basically won nothing whilst he was at the helm
The premiership he won was off the back of an already established team of champions.
I would be happy to handing over 1.2/ 1.3 mill a season to DCE if he delivered at least 2 premierships over his 15 seasons as our main man.. he hasn't
And that as our Halfback, organiser and captain was his job!

So technically he failed. End of story
Show me on the doll where he hurt you.

How you twist what I wrote to this. Move on.

I think the seibs mestrov combo have identified some time back our BIG 3 take up too much cap considering the ROI
DCE first cab off the rack and replaced
tom vocal about accepting less $$$
Jake and tom downgrades expected

I dont think they were too fussed about retaining DCE and played it accordingly.

He knew they were shopping around elsewhere and his ego took a hit
They probably would have signed him for 1 more if they came up empty elsewhere but he wanted to control the narrative which is his prerogative but he acted like he was butt hurt

It really comes down to honest communication and hopefully that transpired. It doesn’t have to be palatable

Often said cherrys 8 year contract and upgraded with 18 months to go was the biggest issue. Just lived in a fantasy world and played like a “career player”amongst a world of contractors .

I reckon Penn has a man crush on DCE and thats why it played out in that way, differing agendas

Possibly very very close to what may have happened.

Not sure what you expect him to say Mick. He is still signed at Raiders and I assume committed to give 100% to sticky and the team for the rest of the year. He is NOT going to say I love Manly and cant wait to get there!!!! Can you imagine the fallout from that headline. He is a lot smarter than that.

He's not going to say he's chosen to come here because he wants to, while he's still playing for Canberra and working for his current employer. He's 100% committed to his current club, just as he'll be 100% committed to us when he arrives. I think he has more class than to do otherwise.

Yes it's an obvious issue isn't it. Now that they have secured a great solution to the DCE departure, I reckon it's a question of WHEN they press the button on the Turbo and Jake changes. Turbo I think will be the easy one and probably would involve a mutually agreed adjustment to the current contract. Significantly lower price but longer tenure. Potentially a $500k - $600k cap saving. Jake is a totally different discussion. I am not so sure there will be an adjusted contract offered. Jake's potential I see now in the coaching staff. If the case, potential cap saving here would be around $900k. I would also be looking at terminating Alioia and (reluctantly) my favourite player Sipley. There is another almost $1m saving from the cap just here.

All up above would be a $3.0m saving from our current cap. Now that would get us some top line forwards (Haas? NAS?) and make room for some upgrades for the younger guys coming through!!!

I really believe we have a genuine shot at the title this year particularly with the forwards that played last week against Penrith. The question is will Seibs and Mestrov press the above button this year and potentially disrupt the side???

Nothing to do with what you said.. I'm talking about halfbacks and what they are worth..
I'm Manly through and through and I only care about results and the players that achieve those results.
I've always been a DCE fan whilst ever he wore the maroon and white and I've simply stated facts.. he's achieved very little as our main man..
And once he carried on the way he has well then yes he's lost me forever.
As I said Only 1 club and that's Manly I couldn't give a flying f#$k about any other club or any other player that plays for any other club.
If DCE goes and all indications are he's going to play on then not only will I not care where he plays but any respect I had for the guy has also diminished.
The guy could have and should have handled this so much better but...he didn't and many real Manly supporters hate not just loosing but having our club disrespected.. it's the basis of tribalism and that's what Rugby League was built on.

Surely you aren’t naive enough to believe the only reason players move to clubs is because they LOVE them??? It’s almost always about the money - particularly when you’re nearing the end of your career. Do you LOVE where you work? If you do you’re probably one of the lucky few. Most of us work for the money. Yeah sure, I’d love him to be coming for the LOVE of the club, but it’s reality and even if he was, do you think he’s say so at this point in time in the season where he’s still at Canberra?

So just say that he's 100% committed to Canberra this year and he'll be 100% committed to my new club next year. Not dismiss us as a business decision only and make it sound like it's all sh*t that I'm going there thanks.

Too much emphasis on press releases and media interviews @:D
I'll bet you a ham sandwich that when he's interviewed early next year he says he's really enjoying it at Manly and it's a great place and he's thrilled with the move and he loves everybody yada yada
