So he's "gutted" to be leaving Canberra but it's purely a business decision. So he's not chosen Manly because he wants to play here and he's coming for the money only. Yep as I said a few weeks ago this will be a waste of money. We won't be getting his committed best and it'll be more of the same results. We could've saved half that money for a young half and spent it on a decent #8 or #9 or #12 , #13.
Media BS..seriously
Firstly the Raiders had an option for 1 year at over $650k.. with ratchet clauses it may have been around $800k.. that's why the Raiders didn't automatically tick off on the 1 year extension..
So they think..we will sign him for less.. Manly then step in and offer $600 k for 2 years... Raiders **** themselves and match the offer
Manly offer $650k and 3 years
Raiders offer $650k and 2 years as they have "ready to go" halves in the next 1 or 2 seasons.. we do not.
So quoting him saying his "gutted" is normal. He's been there 5 years.. and that's what you want to hear.. he's committed.
He obviously had a hard decision to make.
And it's laughable that last night on 360 they say..good on Canberra sticking to their decision.. 2 years is all they need.. well they obviously wanted to keep the bloke.. they matched us on 2 occasions trying to make him stay..
They should have ticked off the 1 year extension even at $750/800 k he was massive value to them.
I think they dropped the ball on this one and Ricky's mates on 360 doing a smother job.
On the same episode they talk about south's signing Dodd for $750, Sullivan for $650 and then go on and say..
"Oh.. halfbacks are the main guys they are all on $500+ minimum"
So Jamal at $650 is a bargain
And he will be invaluable towards the end of his contract with the younger halves.
Have faith Mickqld
