The apparent smear campaign that he brought up at the post-Parramatta game presser - what was that all about?

There was no particularly bad stuff said about him prior to that, so was it an attempt by him to paint someone at the club as the villain of the piece when he realised his 100% Footy appearance resulted in a lot of people thinking lesser of him?

And that's fair enough. We all make our opinions form very little factual information. You, me or the next person will never really know what's going on under the hood. I personally think he's a decent family man looking out for his own interests.
I've interviewed him a few times early in his career and he was the most polite and well versed player id come across. Compare that to say Thurston who was just a cock of the highest order.
Obviously there was and is a smear campaign from both sides and we will never know who's completely in the right.

I always had a lot of time & respect for DCE but I don’t agree with what he did & I don’t think there is any excuse for it.

Sad that he won’t be a one club player & even more disappointing that he’s probably burnt his bridges with the club in regards to a coaching role, but I don’t know what he hoped to achieve by going on 100% Footy & saying what he said.

Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier on this thread,as i couldnt be bothered going back,but the favoured destination for DCE has been the Roosters since day 1,but not sure how or where he fits in now,given Smith’s form/age and Walker’s eventual return

He didn’t seem flustered or upset, rather eager to announce that he was leaving. Laughing & carrying on the way he did really changed my respect for him. He simply didn’t give a $hit about the fallout. The sooner he’s gone the better for the club! I simply cannot cheer for him anymore.

I’m pretty sure there’s a 10 day cooling off period. Usually means that IF a deal has been done we won’t hear till that time expires. From the way Ricky was speaking the other day on SEN I’ve got a feeling we have secured him. Obviously not 100% and I could be wrong but Ricky did say if the reported deal has been offered they couldn’t match a 3 year offer. He then went on to name some other 7’s he would consider. IMO someone who thought he was keeping Fogarty wouldn’t start making those comments but I’m just making an assumption.

Agree with all that except I can honestly say I have never really like him. I have more than admired his football ability, even though I was once of the opinion Trent Hodgkinson was his equal????

Still I'd have to say he is the best no 7 i have seen play for Manly. Edging out Toovey and Hasler.

Hasler played 272 games, 153 as half
Toovey played 243 games, 169 at half
Matt Orford 99 games at half
DCE all 337 games at half
