Jamal Fogarty

Something that hasn't been mentioned, now that it looks like a three year deal is a certainty, is that Jamal is actually a better goalkicker than Garrick. Wouldn't be surprised to see him replace Garrick there.

~80% vs Garrick's 77%, although Fogarty has been trending even higher in recent years.

I did mention it some time ago. I suggested it should further weaken the apparent stranglehold Garrick has on a centre spot as he will have one less bargaining chip (lack of another goal kicker). Put him back on the wing, if he doesn’t like it, tough.

Really. $700K per for 3 years. That'll just about do me. This club is beyond fuked.
Most neutral commentators are saying that's unders, if anything. Walsh and Large are primed to replace him and Brooks whenever. Third year effectively ensures that we don't blood them too soon, either.

I don't see how this is a bad deal. Poor foresight, sure, but given how few halves are on the market, we have done really well here.

Certainly unders compared to Dylan brown.

I think though half backs always demand a good chunk of the salary cap. $700,000 a year for 3 years. If he's as good as suggested, its a pretty reasonable fare. Maybe a little overs by some judges but Manly desperately needs a half to replace DCE and there isn't much on offer. I suspect they're hoping Walsh develops well but putting all eggs in one basket...well

I personally believe Jamal will have less of an ego than DCE and assist in their cultivation as players. My hopes is that he starts assisting in their development from now to eventually take over his position. In the meantime if by some miracle we do win a premiership in the next 3 years he has the potential to cement himself in the history of the club and take over whatever post career plans we had implemented for DCE. We don’t love Orford because of how many games he played for Manly, we loved him because of the success he brought to us.

So we're now pushing Walsh and Large to look elsewhere. What a clusterfu*k club
What do you suggest we do instead? Fast track them to start 2-3 years before they’re ready and potentially ruin their careers? Kids and managers need to understand there is a pathways and development program for a reason. They can’t have it all instantly. And if they can’t be patient then bad luck, see you later.
