They just won it though. It’s strange but it worked. I understand where you’re coming from because it’s highly unconventional but I don’t get the feeling he was benched in each game because the coach decided he wasn’t cutting it, I think it was the plan all along.Probably his last SOO as captain I'd say
He played more of a “club captain” role than on field leader which clearly was Yeo.I think to save Jake’s embarrassment for playing such little game time they should have made Yeo and him co captains.
and it was a great plan, it worked .... of course from a Manly fan perspective it was hard to see, especially after the game 1 debacleThey just won it though. It’s strange but it worked. Watch the press conference... Madge made it clear that Jake brought more to the group than just hit ups...I think to save Jake’s embarrassment for playing such little game time they should have made Yeo and him co captains.

Yeo was off the charts...
57min and he had 18 runs for 182m with something like 74 post-contact... add in 28 tackles with no misses...
Does not ever get the credit he deserves but has been as important to Penrith's 3-peat as anyone in that side, including his co-captain...
Yeah, I said a few years ago that Yeo was basically Jake 2.0: could do all the tough stuff, but was also a great link man and ballplayer. And he's just got better since, to the point he's now more like Jake 4.5.Yeo was off the charts...

Pretty much this which to me is because he has been doing everyone else’s tackling for the last 5 years and he is buggeredWon’t be a popular opinion but **** it. Jake is the biggest problem in our team bar Croker and he’s on 500k+ more than him. Offers absolutely zero in attack and is constantly praised for his defence which mainly consists of giving away set restarts and missing crucial tackles due to his lack of speed.
Legend of a bloke, and always tries to put in a big effort but that’s why we’re mostly accepting of his mediocrity. We’ve all thought the same of Parker and Croker, now Jake has fallen into that category IMO. Our middle constantly gets dominated and guys like Paseka and Aloiai are always the first blamed but the true answer isn’t too hard to find!
Dally M player of the year is Yeo. Jake is really looking older than he is. The 3 x T's are really sucking up some cap space, for very little return.Yeo was off the charts...

Pay cut I think he has 2yrs left no way gets another contract.Jake has gone backwards at a rate of knots since Origin unfortunately. And he wasn't coming off a particularly high base either tbh.
Not sure if the reduced minutes in Origin has played with his head, or if age is starting to catch up.
Either way, he needs well reduced minutes next year, and certainly a massive pay cut next contract.
Going forward for a start. So what's Jake's role going forward?
