Jake Trbojevic... take a bow

His speech on the podium was so funny, bit scrambled and incoherent. Probably his last SOO as captain I'd say, anyway, well done Jakey.

He was clearly in the team for the first 20 min softening up period so he could do the extra work to keep players like Haas fresh. The amount of cover tackles he did out wide was noticeable

All that said his second half was the greatest NSW Manly player performance since Jason Kings Play the ball which lead to a try in 2011

They just won it though. It’s strange but it worked. I understand where you’re coming from because it’s highly unconventional but I don’t get the feeling he was benched in each game because the coach decided he wasn’t cutting it, I think it was the plan all along.
and it was a great plan, it worked .... of course from a Manly fan perspective it was hard to see, especially after the game 1 debacle

I think to save Jake’s embarrassment for playing such little game time they should have made Yeo and him co captains.
Watch the press conference... Madge made it clear that Jake brought more to the group than just hit ups...
That team stood up and played for each other in all 3 games and that does not happen without a group that is well-connected - and that starts by having blokes like Jake in your side that every player respects because he is hard as nails but just a really nice guy...

He played more of a “club captain” role than on field leader which clearly was Yeo.
Yeo was off the charts...
57min and he had 18 runs for 182m with something like 74 post-contact... add in 28 tackles with no misses...

Does not ever get the credit he deserves but has been as important to Penrith's 3-peat as anyone in that side, including his co-captain...

Was enormous and the reason that Jake didn’t get another run. You couldn’t take any of the forwards off.

Yeah, I said a few years ago that Yeo was basically Jake 2.0: could do all the tough stuff, but was also a great link man and ballplayer. And he's just got better since, to the point he's now more like Jake 4.5.

Won’t be a popular opinion but **** it. Jake is the biggest problem in our team bar Croker and he’s on 500k+ more than him. Offers absolutely zero in attack and is constantly praised for his defence which mainly consists of giving away set restarts and missing crucial tackles due to his lack of speed.

Legend of a bloke, and always tries to put in a big effort but that’s why we’re mostly accepting of his mediocrity. We’ve all thought the same of Parker and Croker, now Jake has fallen into that category IMO. Our middle constantly gets dominated and guys like Paseka and Aloiai are always the first blamed but the true answer isn’t too hard to find!

Pretty much this which to me is because he has been doing everyone else’s tackling for the last 5 years and he is buggered

Jake has gone backwards at a rate of knots since Origin unfortunately. And he wasn't coming off a particularly high base either tbh.

Not sure if the reduced minutes in Origin has played with his head, or if age is starting to catch up.

Either way, he needs well reduced minutes next year, and certainly a massive pay cut next contract.

I LOVE Jake, but I find it hard to disagree. All I want to see from him is to re-add the offload component to his game like he had in his younger years. That's the extra value he has to provide. Hit the line, spin and create some second phase. There's literally no value in him taking hit ups for yards.

It's been very noticeable that Brownie has even taken over as the primary link man when they are both on the park.

Today was possibly the worst game I have seen from Jake in a Manly jersey. Cronulla were too fast and he got caught out several times. Jake can play a role and I love him at our club. But Maguire used him in a certain role due to his limitations , and now appears that Seibs has changed how he uses him.

Dally M player of the year is Yeo. Jake is really looking older than he is. The 3 x T's are really sucking up some cap space, for very little return.

Pay cut I think he has 2yrs left no way gets another contract.

The poor bloke has done a million tackles carrying our average fwd pack for the last 5yrs it's now caught up with him and now he hasn't got much more to give.

Jake has served us well at lock, however he is a liability now. We need an agile and fast lock and Jake needs to go into the front row.

Our weaknesses remain our 9. This is now a major problem and loyalty and sentiment are one thing but reality is that we do not control the ruck and it is telling now!
