Jake Simpkin signed until 2026

Even Braith Anasta was asking why we did this last night On 360.
I think Anasta was trying to paint the picture that Seibold was signing Issac Moses players, when Seibold was at the Donkeys 18 of the 30 players were Moses managed.

Since Seibold's signing, the Moses-managed players that have arrived, include Aaron Woods, Matt Lodge, Ben Condon, Cooper Johns, Luke Brooks, Tommy Talau and Jake Simpkin.

Of the above Brooks would be the only player on decent coin…

Humphries back in the halfs at Blacktown even with Gordie not available there last week and Gordie himself , at this stage anyway , hardly being rated as the most favored 9 option in i st grade .
These two indications , no doubt a fairly good reason to bring in someone like Simpkin who looks to have some good credentials as a 9 .
Then also naturally the concern and doubts around Froggy" s present injury prognosis and ongoing .
Certainly must have some confidence level in him as the likely replacement for Lawman if not a possible starter but maybe does not have the Lawman's versatility .
Can only continue to have big wraps on Froggy's defensive efforts but if Simpkin can measure up sufficiently in this area and offer some more effectiveness or creativity in the 9 role , could again rate as a quite handy pickup .

*Humphreys

You can take this as genuine.
If humphreys is going to be an option at Manly, it will be to play in the 7 after DCE retires.
His other only option between now and then, will be jumping to a bench option and if Croker is out long term and Simkins grabs the 9, Humphreys battle will be against Gordie for a bench spot.

Certainly a better place to be in than letting Api go, with Mainase the Knife then self-imploding, in the same off-season.

100% mate, I hope he's DCE's under study. I honestly think he could be anything. Probably one of my absolute favorite players at our club. He's like Foz was at similar ages. He's a player that would and could be very likable as well. Have massive hopes for him.

See Humphries more in the Ben Hunt mode but of course naturally , has a way to go to get to his level
.Ben has a fair bit of toe as well though Humphries looks like he can scoot a bit as well , solid kicking game and hopefully his game management skills can continue to get better or really well honed soon .

Going to be interesting but get the notion that D C E will be on the Manly scene for a couple of more seasons at least .
Always the options of moving Brooksy to an eventual 7 role and finding a capable 6 but probably in the unlikely scenario

You had absolutely zero idea that Manly were interested in him, so how do you know no other clubs were looking ?

Why? because we are no longer a destination club we attract cheap off cuts. Doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a good player but let's not kid ourselves that we got under the guard of the rest of the comp and stole a star.

Moses is dumping his b graders on us imo.

Maybe so but I'm taking Moses out of this situation as Manly simply need a specialist dummy half who can add spark and he maybe better than any other options we have at Manly.
Noone is saying he is a Superstar yet, but if he adds something, it's a win and maybe worth giving the kid a go, and he may be better than a B grade player, I mean at Tigers he is behind Api and 90% of hookers at NRL would also be behind Api, that doesn't make him a dud, so how about everyone let him have a go before judging ??

"He's like Foz was at similar ages"....

Foran at 22 had about 70 NRL matches, 8 tests for NZ and a premiership to his name.

Humphrey's at 22 has yet to nail a permanent position in reserve grade.

I like him and hope he does well but I think the hype is a little overstated.

Foz might enjoy pineapple on his pizza, while Humphreys can't stand pineapple on pizza - they still both like pizza. I honestly think you'd attempt to argue that with me somehow.

For the record, people who eat pineapple on pizza need psychiatric assistance.

If I changed the words "similar ages", to respective points in their careers (and further clarification for you, so you don't pull apart word for word my comments) - prior to breaking into first grade, would that be okay with you?

I am warming more to the signing, his defense this year has slipped in Reggie's a fair bit,but previously had been good in both grades.
Interesting his attack has been a bit better this year in Reggie's whilst his defense has slipped a bit.
Anyway .... here's hoping he turns out to be an inspired signing.
I could point to Talau as an example, but then I look at the Paulo signing.

Uh oh,what if you like it with and without......
