Barrett made to work alongside Hasler as Manly refuse payout

Manly have no intention of paying out Trent Barrett, who will be made to continue working for his contract money long after Des Hasler is appointed as his replacement.
Hasler’s return to the northern beaches on a three-year deal will be trumpeted next week, marking an unlikely return to the Sea Eagles. It was widely considered the Hasler deal would not be announced until a settlement had been reached with Barrett, who gave a 12-month notice period last July.
But in an unprecedented scenario, the Sea Eagles intend for Barrett to serve out his time in a yet-to-be-defined role, meaning he will remain at the club until the middle of next year alongside Hasler.
The extraordinary transition plan means Barrett is expected to keep working for his money long after the new coach's appointment. Manly powerbrokers are adamant they won’t be paying out a cent to Barrett to get him off their books, but are prepared to grant him a release should he ask for one. Such a move would prevent them from having to pay two coaches at the same time.

The only reason he didn't perform or get the team to perform is because of those bloody demountables. Hopefully Dessie can show him how it's done and will coach the team from a tent.Des all but confirmed. Penn back from overseas announcement early next week.
Good times except barrett wants to ne paid for not performing yeah that makes sense.
He won't stick around imo. He be made to look like idiot if he doesThe only reason he didn't perform or get the team to perform is because of those bloody demountables. Hopefully Dessie can show him how it's done and will coach the team from a tent.
Haha and how do you know this to make it a fact? It’s a reasoned opinion. All I’m saying is something about glass houses..... something something. I forget the saying
I am offended wah wah. Nah good one haha. One too many beers i sayUmmmmm.... leopards don't have stripes.
I don’t believe I was disputing that. Believe it or not I’m not a moron. I was simply pointing out that you suggesting he makes “all” the decisions or doesn’t let his board decide things is your complete and utter guess. Except you’re not even framing it as your uninformed guess.laws
It's called Corporate law ..... an old but well established set of laws that pertain to the running of incorporated entities ... the short version of which is ..... he who holds or is the majority share Holder controls the company ... silly maybe ... but it stops the janitor from doing dumb things ....
Now Penn make choose to delegate certain responsibilities and functions .... but make no mistake .... Manly are a small privately owned Company with one major shareholder .... full stop ...

I feel that irony is something which is often lost on you in your quest to criticize other posters.....
I am sure none of us know the specifics of Barrett's contract or the wording or if it states he is the sole Head Coach or not. Barrett is angling to get a pay out then was hoping he would get the gig at Penrith or elsewhere. He is no saint in all this - not at all. He had/has another plan he just wants the Manly money as well. Lets just see how this plays out and who legally has the contract and contractual law on their side. It might well be Barrett but who knows. I have no issue with the club making Barrett sit in a demountable doodling all day. I doubt he would have anything to do with the team or the club unless he could guarantee his full support to Hasler as an "assistant" and that wont happen. So let him sit somewhere doodling. It will be bad for his career because he wont get a gig to prove himself in any capacity in 2019 - at least till July. I have no problems with the clubs strategy because I have no knowledge of the Contract and its wording. Let's have faith in the club and let it play out. I am sure that Hasler will not let anything affect him or the playing group and so Barrett sitting in a demountable wont be any distraction at all as I see it IF it gets that far.Bugger us fans, it would be ridiculously unsettling for 'the playing group' (whatever happened to the word team?). Untenable.
Get your hands out of your tight arse Mr Penn, put it in your pocket (eeew, gross!) and pay out Barrett. Yours is, no doubt, one of the signatures on that contract.
You think Hook didn't get all his money?
Agree totally and given we ALL have no idea of how the contract is framed or worded lets have faith in the club that they just maybe might know something we don't. Let the matter play out - it wont be a distraction to Hasler or the players - could you imagine Hasler coming if he thought this would be an issue with Barrett around? Obviously IF Hasler signs - he is happy with the club's strategy and that is good enough for me.Finally they have worked it out. I do believe that the Penn’s legal team have finally done the contract justice. Although we can all speculate what may, or may not be on Barrett’s contract, one thing I highly doubt is that the contract will have an exclusive clause that Barrett is the only head coach at the sea eagles and exclude the world at large.
I strongly believe there is nothing stopping the Penns from having 3,5, or 12 head coaches along with Barrett if they desire, it all comes down to legal interpretation and the expressed terms of the contract.
Barrett’s legal team can jump up and down all they like. Yes he was hired as a head coach but doubt the contract would stipulate ‘the only head coach’.
Although this way of dealing with the saga seems extremely unorthodox and may be unsettling for us fans and the playing group, it will have timing ramifications for Barrett’s much anticipated next move as assistant at another club. If timing is an issue then he would be hard pressed not seeking a release.
Patronizing by trying to explain a private ownership model makes you sound really smart!I am certain that the board has independent authority to make all the decisions like which toilet paper to buy and which stationary supplier is preferred ....
But any big decision would be at the approval of one man .... with the exception of the 2 football club directors he has, as the major shareholder and Chairman the total power to appoint or remove directors .. it's his money, his Company and his way .....
and I have gone out of my way not to call you a moron ..... but you are not making it easy ....
