Toovey wont be considered 'coach of the year' or one of the best coaches around, unless he moves to another club. Hasler had to move the the Bulldogs before the media started seriously discussing him as one of the very best. Seems coaching the Sea Eagles automatically places you down the list of best coaches....according the the public (other than Sea Eagle supporters) and the media.
I loved a recent list of the dozen or so best Rugby League players of the past 30 years presented by supporters and the media. There wasnt one Manly player in sight. No Menzies, no Lyon, no Lyons, no Toovey, no Stewart, no DCE, no Foran, no...well the list goes on and on. Yet in that time Manly have won the premiership four times, have been minor premiers four times and have been in grand finals 8 times. But not a mention of one player. Such is the bias against the Sea Eagles not just by other fans but also the media in general.
