A bad day for the St George Illawarra Dragons has become a nightmare.

Only hours after halfback recruit Ronald Volkman was ruled out for the year with a shoulder injury, Wide World of Sports has learned that another new signing, Corey Allan, has suffered a major knee injury and may also be out for the year.

Allan, signed from South Sydney recently and a leading contender for a centre spot, twisted his knee in a training mishap and scans revealed an ACL tear.
Yeah, that's tough. Not going to make any funnies on this, there're seasons over before it even got started. Wouldn't like it if it was our boys.

Saw his name on a sheet today at brookvale. Also he was holding a championship belt in a photo.

He's a Manly Jr who has come home with a much better CV than he left with. A year with the Eels in 22. Brisbane Tigers in 23 who won the QRL.

222 Run metres in the Q cup gf. 55 post contact. A try to boot. And it's not like that tigers teams didn't have a couple of outside backs with NRL experience in it.

Didn't you just know this was going to happen , Tavita Pengai jnr wants to join the Bronks, and is eyeing of on a June sign-up date. The boxing thing was just an excuse to get out of the Bulldogs contract. Once again the Doggies have been s.... on by another high priced individual.

Just saw NRL's latest promo for the upcoming season , all the usual fafavourites are all trotted out, no surprises there. And all's we get is a kid in an old Manly jersey...piff!!..

Dogs have named Crichton captain, interesting move. He's only 23yo but seems like a class act.
Burton and Mahoney dumped from the captaincy, bit of a slap in the face for those two high-profile spine players?
Hard not to like Crichton as a player but he's definitely been thrust into the hot seat by Ciraldo. Possibly it highlights that Ciraldo wants Dog fans to know he is is thinking longterm (?) They really don't have the forwards to seriously contend this year but will be looking to edge up towards the 8.

Groundhog day...
"Dragons recruit Luciano Leilua could miss the start of the NRL season after being handed a breach notice over a recent drink driving incident.
The 27-year-old was found guilty of low-range drink driving, which saw him fined $3000 and suspended from driving for one month.
The incident took place prior to Leilua's departure from the Cowboys, where it is alleged he failed to disclose the charge to his club or the NRL integrity unit.
St George Illawarra has acknowledged the breach notice, with Leilua now given five days to respond prior to his proposed sanction, which has not been publicly disclosed.
The back-rower officially returned to the Red V last week, inking a three-year deal with the club after being granted an early release from North Queensland.
According to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald, the NRL will impose a two-game ban on the Samoan international, ruling him out of clashes with the Titans and Dolphins.
Leilua is expected to be available for the Dragons' clash with his former club the Cowboys in round three."

Saw Zac Saddlers name pop up on the Roosters bench in their trial game this weekend. Had potential, but just didn't quit nail his chances with us.
Thought that a serious neck injury resulted in an early retirement for him so pleased for him if he has made a full recovery now and can resume footy again .
No doubt did have some potential ,big and mobile as a prop or 13 but with a few inconsistencies in his game in his Manly stay at least
Anyway, is taking another opportunity now and hope it works out for him considering his prior setbacks playing wise

Foxsports say they asked 60 NRL players to name the 10 best players, they say 6-10 are ..
Johnson, Fisher-Harris, Grant, Tedesco, Crichton

My guess is that 1-5 will be Cleary, Haas, Tino, Munster Yeo

But hopefully by season's end Turbo will be back up to No. 1

It has been revealed Knights halfback Jackson Hastings chose not to train with the NSW Cup side after he was dropped for Round 3.

Hastings has been axed just two games into the season, after Newcastle started 0-2, and replaced by Panthers recruit Jack Cogger.

But instead of copping it on the chin, Hastings opted against training with the reserve-grade side and instead went home after learning his fate from coach Adam O’Brien.

“Adam O’Brien asked Jackson Hastings if he wanted to train with the NSW Cup side and he said no. He went straight home. So clearly he’s rattled and I don’t know whether he’s going to be ready to come back.

“He said ‘No, I’m done, I’m going home’. It wasn’t a dummy spit, please don’t misinterpret that, he was given the option and just didn’t want to be involved.

“Obviously he was stunned to be given the boot after two games.

"Didn't want to be involved"....it's a Dummy Spit.

Allegations today in federal parliament, relate to AFL (so probably nothing to do with NRL!)

“As a beat reporter back in the day this was the story you could never prove. High profile player, untimely hamstring injury, lingered longer than might have been anticipated. Suspicions were on every street corner.

“The system of privately testing AFL players to determine whether they had illicit drugs in their system ahead of a match was laid bare in Federal Parliament by independent MP Andrew Wilkie last night.

“They are sensational allegations introduced under parliamentary privilege.”

Anybody else noticed the lack of anything Manly in the latest batch of NRL promo vids. For a team that is known for its attacking flair, to not even get a fleeting glimpse in a scene or take is just unfathomable .

ive noticed that, it's a shame really

The Panthers are reportedly investigating a video posted to centre Taylan May’s Instagram inside a sports car driving at speeds of 90 km/h in a residential area.

That is according to The Daily Telegraph, who is reporting the NRL’s Integrity Unit has been informed of the footage that was posted on social media over a week ago.

The footage showed May inside an Audi R8 hitting top speeds of 96km/h as seen in the speedometer on the car, with NSW speed limits sitting at 50km/h around homes.
