Game day V Sharks

Some of the sour yoghurt cannons on here would have you believe the entire season is over after 1 average trial game. Absolutely irrefutable proof that the Des and Donny experiment is over.

Bring back Barrett and Ferris! #dreamteam
I don’t think most people are concerned over the trial performance at all. I think there were some good positives actually.
Being disappointed over getting injuries to players (again!!) in our weakest areas on top of the Walker affair is fair enough.
All the positive talk is great but the reality is that we are probably going to be down five or six top players for the early rounds... and this for a team who ran second last.Realistically it makes it damn tough and it ain’t the start we needed. Our first four or five games looked like incredibly tough assignments before these injuries if you look at the draw and our boys need confidence badly.Dissapointment is totally different to bagging the coach and team.

I’ve read on that absolute bastion of information ( Facebook) that Tommy might be out 4-6 weeks, if so who will play fullback???
Elliott apparently
So probably be

Elliott
Jorge
Garrick
Suli
Parker

5/8. Elgey ??? Was a little disappointing last night but gets the nod I guess
DCE

Or a combination thereof

Apparently Hoppa not quite right

Not sure we'll be down 5 or 6. Maybe 3 at worst unless with Tom, Api and Kelepi. Dylan court case also a factor.

Wow if that's our backline for most of the year then bottom 4 for sure.

Api not likely at all from what I’m hearing and zero football under belt

Walker ( ???))
Tanginoa
Paseka
Tommy

Fullback and front rowers are not the players you need to lose unfortunately. Really feel for Tangles. Hoping for a big year from him.

Thanks to those posters for the match reports and progress scores from last night. Good to see Siro returning to some strong form , still seems to be some problems in defence reading the play out wide and some pass selection, still some work to do there . Disappointing for Elgey not be be playing a leading role , admittedly essentially a half but has the experience now so should be still able to offer something worthwhile as a 6 . Hodko and Cust are not the answer , shame that Metcalfe did not have a run there . Looks like Garrick went OK , Suli may get more opportunity next week . Did Funa get a run ? Elliot apparently was training as a shadow full back in the pre season so maybe 2 nd preference there with Tom out now . Sorry to hear of your family loss The Wheel and commiserations .

We have probably the youngest squad of players in the game at the moment. A couple will take a further few years to develop and reach what we hope they will become. But the side is too inexperienced at this stage to be any more than competitive, especially when we lose one or two of our best players. Just look at the players 22 or under in our squad

Croker 21
Kioa 19
Olakau'atu 19
Cust 20
Metcalf 20
Waddell 22
Garrick 21
Keppie 20
Funa 21
Fainu 20
Anderson 22
Paseka 21
Suli 21
Albert Hoppa 18

And then there are several players in the 23-25 range. We do lack some heavy tough dudes though Taupau, AFB and Jake are working on it and we have a good running forward in Sirro and defensive forward in Thompson. And then there's Api to come back. But its inexperience and lack of toughness that Manly has to work through, as well as sort out that 5/8 problem, before they can mix it with the big boys. The pieces are fitting together. It just needs time. And I wouldn't get too upset if we get rolled by some of the better teams in the first half of the year. Remember Manly's worst defeat actually occurred in Hasler's first year of coaching. It happens when the team is finding its shape.

I tell you what some of you blokes are going to make this a long season . Have fukhing faith and get behind them instead of riding them into the dirt . Not having a go at you personally mate .

Riding and writing a team and its players off after one trial game is only an agenda motive . It is not a rational response .

Fair enough mate , just get sick of the negativity of someone.
I find it hilarious that we live in a society filled with smut, crudeness and a general disrespect for others, and one poster telling somebody to f$&@ off on a footy forum has somehow managed to even get a mention... I remember the good old days where all swearing would be dubbed over on television with words like “damn” and “freakin” and how George Michaels very tame (by today’s standards) I want your sex video copped a worldwide ban on MTV. How people would pause whenever a funeral hearse drove past, and there was no such a thing as Sunday shopping. Boys were forced to eat a mouthful of soap when they got caught cussing at their siblings, and people were still shocked to read about murder in the newspapers... funny old world.

No one is writing us off from what I can see Boz. Just stating the bleeding obvious that you don’t need a stack of injuries in a developing side.Bottom line is we are a top heavy roster and need some luck. No amount of cheerleading changes that.Early rounds will be a major struggle.
One thing I liked from last night was the speed factor. Looked so much quicker. You would have loved that no doubt. And Fainu is going to be a serious player.

I'm not talking about one trial. I'm talking overall. But tell me to **** off, and call me a joke all you like you angry little man.

This is the reason I don't post here anymore. These feral types of attacks. I'm sorry I have an opinion, that's different to yours.

This is a process Brad. It doesn't magically just change. Everyone is suggesting Barrett destroyed the place. What a farce. We need to build.

I'm not sure what to say if you can't see that. I'm sure it will be verbose abuse, name calling, belligerence, foul language, attacks, and telling long term fans and members to **** off.

Jesus dude.
Yes you are talking about one trial mate , because after just one trial you have written the team off . If you were talking about over all you would have waited for a few NRL games before you started being negative .
Use your "it is a process" and wait for the first quarter of the season as any person with any idea of the game knows that there are no pre season trial premiers !!!

People that start to get off the topic and start personal attacks have lost their marbles and lose their respect on any point they are making so dis regard them feathered friend . You are a passionate supporter and a respected one as well and so am I but i do not agree with you on this thread .
Have a great day mate, keep up the passion for our Sea eagles and always say it as you see it but also expect another passionate point of view

Any one that will get a stack of injuries will have an issue . We are not the only ones . Achievers focus on the positives in times of adversity and not the negatives and that is why they excel . Just like your self mate , I have also seen positives as well in our team .

It's a funny ole world mate alright . I've been told off myself quite a few times throughout my life and been told how it is . I respect those people and am not a negative person and tell it how I feel myself. Some are just thin skinned pussys.
