Game day V Sharks

In saying all that it is so good to have the footy back even if injuries are not going our way.

Workers players Miski and Dockar-Clay were always going to be picked in the trials, but one to watch out for is the young prop DeLuis, originally from WA and played last year with eels feeder side, has some size and good workrate.Probably will not get a look in this year, but there are still spots up for grabs, might turn out to be our version of Tolman with a bit more impact, obviously has impressed Dessie...hope he gets some game time today.
Awesome mate.

First 20 was good, quick and so much more structured in terms of running lines. Just a trial, the team can't be judged until a few rounds in, especially seeing, as with all trials, that half the squad was depth being tested. As we all know our depth is not too big so we got beat in terms of that. Only other note was that a few of theirs tries were a result of risky passes being intercepted, once again its just a trial, and also both Siro and Taupau looked very good. Siro's early try was fantastic where he ran that strong line off chez. Garrick also looked the goods, and Fainu appears to have improved his game structure. Shame about injuries but round one is still a little off.

Garrick - amazing
Elliott - Rubbish
Waddell - Rubbish
Elgey - average (he should dominate versus a 4th string team)
Suli, Perrett, Jake, Gosi a few others all woefully overweight
I beg to differ...

When arriving I saw the players warming up and my first reaction was how slim and fit both Jake and Suli looked. Jetski looked fine and the only one who looked overweight imo was Perrett.

Sirro looked and played like he picked up from where he left off before his injury, ie very good. Garrick was impressive, as was Elliott who I thought was one of the best players in the 2nd half. Elgey was disappointing. Marty was great, even though only a trial. Just my opinion.

Perrett may be carrying a few kilos, but some props do play way better a little heavy.

I have to say Perrett was the surprise packet of the night in my eyes.

I thought his work rate was way up, his effort was there. I was mainly looking at his effort after making a tackle, to see what his fitness was like.

I didn't think he could have been any better.

With better opposition the speed will get quicker and that wasn't a great opposition granted.

But I thought Perrett couldn't have done more then what he did tonight.

Perhaps I missed some things and need to watch it again?

So if Tom, Kelepi, Dylan & Taniela are out for round 1, and Hasler stating Elliott is primed for the number 1 jersey, will this be our team?

It could be the best thing to happen to this team.

Short on props. Well do we really need that extra prop at lock for 80 minutes slowing things down?

Does Turbo have the hands and composure for that last pass playing full back? Every second game the answer is nope.

If Walker is gone, Tommy is one fine runner of the footy.

Injuries equal opportunities for a new star to shine.

Both Turbos were terrible tonight before they were injured.

A bit of competition never hurts.

How do we know this team wouldn't be better with two turbos playing in different spots?

How are we going poorly . We lost a trial by six points and we had a try disallowed .
One trial game does not make a season .
Just saying poorly going in that we have started with a few injuries
Just not how we would want to start the season.
Not that we played poorly.

No doubt Ur right, but I'd sure like too see something more like this team get a few weeks. Bench is stronger in the Pigs. I believe Siro hands and faster foot speed at lock, is the missing link.

Thank you for clarifying . On a positive note, at least they are not season ending injuries . Also gives other guys the opportunity to step up .

There are always positives to come out from challenging times .

Nothing should ever keep us from competing . We are Sea eagles and Sea eagles should always rise to the occasion

What ever team it will be , I am confident we wont be a wooden spoon competitor like last Season under Trent .
