Against all odds - Manly by 30+ :inlove::party::clap:

So, what's your hunch? Will 2V stick with the same team that made me feel ill on Sunday with their non-Manly performance, or pick some pretty useful lower graders, like T-Red, Brenton Lawrence, Jayden Hodges, Soggy, Tom Turbo (provided he's fit)? Obviously Mason will come back.....
Had we not lost the apparently un-loseable match against Doesn'tmatter we could have actually leapfrogged Storm, who may lose their remaining two matches.

Actually I can't see Hasson being dropped to make way for Mason. Unfortunately he was one of our best forwards on Sunday. His hit ups still suck but his defence was ok and he did score a very good opportunist individual try that gave us a chance to win the game.

I know, I was as shocked as anyone.

No doubt Willie will be back in the side, but for someone reason I get the feeling that the one who drops out of the team will be MCK.

The only way I can see Hasson being dropped this week is if Tooves also brings T-Red back into first grade.

Courier mail

Manly Sea Eagles v Sydney Roosters

Friday 7:45pm at Brookvale Oval

Manly: Willie Mason will be able to return from suspension while Tom Symonds is also expected to be fit after struggling with a niggling knee injury for several weeks. Brenton Lawrence has played several weeks in NSW Cup and may make a return to first grade off the bench.

Roosters: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (knee) and Mitchell Pearce (hamstring) are both out with injury. Waerea-Hargreaves is out for the season and will be replaced in the short-term by Suaia Matagi while Pearce is expected to miss at least a few weeks with young gun Jackson Hastings to step into the No. 7 jersey. Michael Jennings has been hit with a shoulder charge and will miss one match regardless of his plea — if he is suspended, Mitchell Aubusson will likely revert to the centres but the possibility of exciting youngster Latrell Mitchell, who was 18th man for the Roosters last weekend, making his NRL debut should not be counted out.

Well this really is the Toovey farewell that the heading has listed for weeks. The last home game for the little fella.

It would be great to see some sort of recognition for him , but highly unlikely ( and doubtful he'd want it anyway).

I think the wind is out of our sails now, no real reason to lift so I expect a pretty average , typical round 1-17 performance.

Mind you, I'm as happy as a pig in mud, considering we were last for 17 rounds and to actually finish well away from the spoon is a reward in one sense.

Had we won last week it would all be different, I know the fat lady hasn't sung, and I'll never stop hoping BUT realistically we had to beat the Eels, and we didn't !!

.
Did Lawrence play NSW Cup last weekend? I didn't think so.
Surely Hasson and MCK must be dropped for Mason and T-Red.
Hodges for Ballin.
Then there's Dunny Loo and Lawrence.....

I feel you are going to be right mark re performance of the team on Friday night being that of our rounds 1-17 but I feel and hope we have one more good performance in our group.

For a few of them this will be their last game playing at brookvale in manly colours so I expect a better performance than last Sunday.

Think it will be either roosters by 24+ or us by a small margin 8 , sadly roosters for me is where I am heading.

How many games have we lost at brookie this year? It would have to be the most since 2003

Hodges named in NSW Cup, so we assume Horo/ Leary at hooker?

T-Red also named down there,

Only difference this week Ballin out, Mason in ( I guess not yet named).

Hassooooon to play !

Not playing a specialist hooker is incredibly dumb. Leary was not much chop in there at all. Come on 2V, Hodges must play!

Cue the uneducated complaining about team selection Tuesday.Who'll be the first to whinge that Leary is at 9?

'I couldn't think of anything worse': Leary

The 24-year-old, who debuted at hooker with the Cowboys in 2012, said he didn't exactly love playing at hooker in the absence of Matt Ballin.

"I couldn't think of anything worse than playing in the rain at hooker again," Leary quipped following the four-point loss.

However he also stated he'd get on the training paddock and do some extras if the coach requires him to play the role again.

"If that [playing hooker] is what's required, then definitely during the week I'll get out there and do a fair bit of training," he said.

"Hopefully it's not raining, but I don't mind, I'll get out there and do some extras with my passing and if required I'll jump back in there.

"Hopefully all goes well for Matty and he's not out for too long, I've played it once before about four years ago but never since and hopefully never again.

"I'm not known as a good ball player but yeah just got asked to do the job and did the best I could."

Reflecting on the whole team performance, Leary was embarrassed by his side's efforts at a ground that they consider their fortress.

"It was pretty disgraceful to tell you the truth, we're a lot better side than that," he said.

"We can't make excuses like the rain and that obviously it didn't help but we've just got to hold the ball and complete and we didn't do it today.

"To tell you the truth it was a pretty average game from both teams, they just came home with the win.

"They out-enthused us in parts and that's not like Manly, it's not what we pride ourselves on, especially here at Brookie."

However the back-rower said his team were far from giving up on their season.

"Obviously 'Tooves' just said it [the season] relies on a bit of luck now, but all we can do is look to the two games ahead and if we put two good wins on anything can happen," he said.

Given his balloon passes from dummy half on the weekend he shouldn't be allowed to be any where near a play the ball
